Teen Wolf Season 4: 30 Second Teaser
Somewhere in the world the Teen Wolf PR team are laughing their asses off watching people like me scramble to document what’s going down because they just keep dropping teasers for Season 4 out of nowhere. Then again, I was kind of sick of the hoopla by the time Season 3B started so it’s kind of a welcome change. It helps that what they are giving us is pretty cool, at least I think so.
30 seconds isn’t much – the first 10 seconds is footage from last season (they keep showing Allison’s death and while I’m happy that they are not letting it go, it still hurts… a lot) – but it was enough to wet the fandom’s appetite. It was certainly enough to cause the obligatory drama that is an unfortunate by product of fandom’s passion. But as far as I’m concerned if someone in the fandom isn’t upset, then it’s probably not worth watching.
Set to the rousing “Don’t Run Our Hearts Around” by Black Mountain, the teaser shows Scott (Tyler Posey) and the gang battling a bunch of new (and kind of disturbing) foes. They definitely seem to moving away from werewolves and into the realm of other supernatural creatures.
Like this guy:
He does not look fun. Then there’s whatever Kate Argent came back as. The general consensus in fandom seems to be that she’s a werejaguar but who knows.
Someone’s making out and it looks like it’s Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) with either Lydia (Holland Roden) or Malia (Shelley Hennig). Although some people have suggested that it’s newbie Dylan Sprayberry. It’s probably Stiles with Malia, because Lydia and Stiles don’t seem to be at the making out stage whereas Stiles and Malia had that creepy basement hookup that everyone loved so much (sarcasm of course – oh “Echo House” why did you have to be so terrible?).
To be honest I don’t really care because romance really isn’t Teen Wolf’s strong suit. I’ll stick the fan fiction for that and hope it doesn’t take up too much screen time this season. I’d much rather watch Malia kick butt and listen to Lydia make quips about Stiles baseball bat than watch another cliché teen romance.
Luckily it does look like Malia will indeed be kicking some butt, along with fellow supernatural lady Kira (Arden Cho). Also I’m pretty sure I saw Braeden (Megan Tandy) fighting along side Scott. With all the hype about Malia and the powerful trio of girls (Lydia, Kira and Malia) my hopes are pretty high for female characters this season. I really hope Teen Wolf doesn’t disappoint. I want to believe!
Other than that, Scott looks like he’s having a rough time. Poor guy. And there was a serious lack of Derek. To be fair I don’t think I could ever have enough Derek. All in all I’m pretty impressed, but Teen Wolf usually puts out a good trailer so I try to take them with a grain of salt. We’ll just have to wait until June 23 to find out for sure.
