“Tom and Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology” Gets December Blu-ray and DVD Release

Fans of the iconic Tom and Jerry duo can look forward to owning the original episodes soon enough when the Tom and Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology debuts on Blu-ray and DVD come December 2, 2025.
From Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, the Tom and Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology physical release spans 1940-1958, meaning that you will be able to collect all 114 animated comedy shorts originally created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. This product is being promoted as the definitive collection for Tom and Jerry fans!
Debuting back in 1940, Tom and Jerry have gone on to capture hearts around the globe. I mean, everyone and their grandmother knows who these two trouble-makers are, with the duo continuing to appear across various media through the decades.
While the upcoming home release is about preserving animated legacy, fans should be aware that several of the shorts have been remastered while many of the other shorts have gone through quality improvements, too, ensuring viewers get to experience better visuals and sound.
Take note; ‘Casanova Cat’, ‘Mouse Cleaning’, and ‘His Mouse Friday’ are now completely remasters and uncut for the first time ever.
While you will get 114 theatrical shorts and 20 commentaries in both the DVD and Blu-ray, there is a major difference between the two versions. The DVD has 5 discs. However, the Blu-ray (1080p hi-def) has a 6th disc that houses more than 3 hours of extra content.
Included in the additional content are two all-new, never-before-seen featurettes titled ‘Lady of the House: The Story of Mammy Two Shoes’ and ‘Animal Hijinks: The Friends and Foes of Tom’. Not only that, but you will also get a collectible 28-page booklet with artwork and essays.
As a fan of Tom and Jerry, I’m interested in the 20 commentaries. I’m also intrigued by the featurette focused on Mammy Two Shoes. For those who might not be familiar, that particular character invited a whole lot of controversy back in the day.
Talking about the current status of the characters, from what I could gather, there’s the still-airing Japanese animated series called Tom and Jerry Gokko (2022). It’s cute!
Other than that, a Chinese-American computer-animated film titled Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass was released in China in August of this year.
So, yeah, the duo continues to have adventures.
Will you be picking up the Tom and Jerry: Golden Era Anthology on DVD or Blu-ray?
