Fans of Netflix’s megahit live-action supernatural mystery series Wednesday can look forward to owning the entire first season on DVD and Blu-ray come March 26, 2024. Pre-orders are currently open.

With how easy it is for digital content to be wiped away by TPTB, I always recommend folks get physical copies of the content they enjoy. Yes, the entire first season of Wednesday can be streamed right now on Netflix. But is there any guarantee such a convenient level of access won’t change down the line? One can never be sure.

Based on Wednesday Addams from the iconic Addam Family IP, the live-action show is from creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville), and director Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice) with Jenna Ortega playing the titular character. It has been produced by MGM Television, a division of Amazon MGM Studios.

The series debuted on Netflix back in November 23, 2022.

Along with the upcoming physical release on DVD and Blu-ray on March 26, 2024, Wednesday season one will also be made available for purchase online.

The official synopsis reads:

“Wednesday” is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

Along with Ortega as Wednesday, the series also stars Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay. Guest stars include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

The show has received outstanding critical acclaim, collecting numerous Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Jenna Ortega. Take note; Ortega became the second youngest woman to ever be nominated in said category and the third Latina following Rita Moreno and America Ferrera.

As if writing this, the 8-episode long season one of Wednesday remains Netflix’s most popular English TV series of all time with 252.1 million views.

I know that certain fans of The Addams Family didn’t like how the show depicted Wednesday’s relationship with her parents, especially with Morticia Addams. Also, some viewers weren’t into the romantic elements involving Wednesday. But you can’t deny that the particular iteration of the iconic characters in this show has global appeal. It will be interesting to see how the already announced season two does.

Distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, you can own the DVD for $24.98 ($29.98 CAD) and the Blu-ray for $29.98 SRP ($39.99 in CAD)

The Audio options (including subtitles) are English, Spanish, and French.

The show has been created TV-14 with an approximate Runtime of 480 minutes.
