Support “Square Zair Pair” a Queer Friendly Childrens Book by Jase Peeples!
We all know that LBGTQ+ books are criminally scarce, especially ones meant for a younger audience. The Geekiary supports any good cause meant for the queer community and that’s why a new book called Square Zair Pair: A Story Celebrating Diversity in Couples caught our interest. The book is written by Jase Peeples, and he needs your support for the Kickstarter!
You might remember Jase Peeples from our article about queer representation in Teen Wolf and clearing up some misconceptions in the Teen Wolf fandom.
I went through the details regarding Square Zair Pair and I’m sold on the idea which sounds quite appealing for a children’s picture book. Mixing things up with the square and round Zairs causes annoyance in the village the creatures live in. The village rejects the square Zair pair at first but then realizes that a team made of different Zairs makes the village stronger. Talking about such a topic in the form of a children’s picture book will indeed help parents teach an important lesson to their kids about acceptance and love.
The artwork for the book is being done by the talented Christine Knopp who previously worked at Disney Interactive. Go check out her Tumblr, Guys!
The audiobook version is being read by Samantha Newark who happens to be the original speaking voice of Jem from the animated show Jem and the Holograms.
So, if you want to be part of bringing Square Zair Pair into this world for every child to enjoy then head-on over to the Kickstarter and support in any way you can.
What are your thoughts about Square Zair Pair? Are there any LBGTQ+ representative children books that you like? Let us know!
