Fandom Helped Make Netflix Give Us a Sense8 Finale
The undying passion and love of the fandom worked. We will get to see a Sense8 finale soon enough!
Netflix announced it had canceled Sense8 at the start of Pride Month. Of course, fans didn’t take it lightly and now before the end of Pride Month, we have news about a Sense8 finale being made. While I’m happy for the cluster to return, I’m more happy about the fandom coming through.
There were petitions, articles, and more showing that the fans wanted the queer-centric series to continue. And while fans still hoped for the series to return, the official Sense8 Twitter kind of extinguished the possibility.
So, you can imagine my excitement when the account tweeted about the 2-hour finale! It is an entire letter from Lana Wachowski!
Death doesn’t let you say goodbye. 2 hour finale episode in the works. Tell your cluster. pic.twitter.com/GHZgGuHwS0

Good work fandom! We got our voices heard and we will be rewarded. I love it when the fandom bands together. I saw it come together for Hit The Floor, another one of my favorite shows, and now Sense8 has experienced a fandom-driven revival too. Of course, the people involved in the show and who pushed for it to be revived also get my thanks.
I understand that Netflix is a business. As mentioned in the letter, it seems that Sense8 wasn’t very profitable for the network. I’m okay with shows being canceled, but at least give us a proper finale instead of ending things on a cliffhanger. That is why even though Sense8 isn’t getting a third season (yet), I’ll make do with a 2-hour finale.
Our Admin Angel also talked about the show in her podcast about bisexual representation.
No release date for the finale has been announced but you can expect it to be released sometime next year. We’ll keep you updated. For now, let’s be happy about seeing the cluster soon.
Looking forward to the Sense8 finale? Let us know.
