Gotham 4×7 Review: A Day in the Narrows

This week’s episode of Gotham, titled ‘A Day in the Narrows,’ continued Professor Pyg’s fight against the GCPD and showed Baby Bruce finding an unhealthy way to ignore his feelings.

I’m a bit late with this review because nothing exciting happened and I’m not a huge fan of Gordon-centric episodes. While I did enjoy the debut of Professor Pyg in the previous episode, it being Gordon-centric was one the reasons I didn’t review it here.

Anyway, coming to ‘A Day in the Narrows,’ Prof. Pyg is still terrorizing the GCPD. Michael Cerveris is having a lot of fun as the crazy villain, and it’s a treat to see him onscreen. I hope Gotham keeps him around.

I don’t know about the rest of you but to me, Prof. Pyg’s plan had a Saw-like feel to it, especially the use of pig heads and traps. He even changed his appearance to get closer to Jim Gordon!

Coming to Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), his fall from being the king of Gotham is inevitable. I don’t know if Sofia will try to kill him, but it’s interesting to see how Oswald is oblivious to her game. Also, I wonder how Gordon will handle Sofia after she takes Penguin down.

Kitty Selina also had a few scenes in ‘A Day in the Narrows.’ The writers still have no idea what to do with her, Tabitha, and Barbara this season. It’s a sad sight to behold.

Anyway, even though it was Gordon-centric, this week’s episode was still able to focus a bit on Baby Bruce. I like how the writers haven’t ignored the impact of Alex’s death and Ra’s al Ghul on Baby Bruce. Our little billionaire isn’t able to cope well with his feelings and decides to drink and dance his sorrows away. Someone needs to hug him!
