Lupin the 3rd Part 5 to Debut on Crunchyroll April 3
TMS Entertainment USA has announced that the latest installment of Lupin the 3rd, one of the most well-known animated TV series in Japanese history, will launch on Crunchyroll tomorrow, April 3rd. Lupin the 3rd Part 5 will air simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast.
In 24 30-minute episodes, Lupin the 3rd Part 5 will reveal Lupin III’s secret life story, and how he became the world’s greatest thief. Lupin III – grandson of the infamous Arsene Lupin – returns with his partners in crime Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, and Fujiko Mine. Longtime nemesis Inspector Zeingata is back as well. The series will be set in France and focus on Lupin’s backstory, something that has been a mystery for 50 years.
Here is the official synopsis:
Lupin’s current target: a key to a certain server facility. Once obtained, the information of all the customers and their funds from the world’s largest online bank will be in Lupin’s hands. Lupin and Jigen speed through their various obstacles and head to their targeted destination.
There, they find the developer of the security system of the bank: Amlita. Whilst having all the skills and utilizing her knowledge about programming, her illness has left her weak, being unable to live her daily life normally.
Lupin and Jigen successfully capture Amlita and bring her to their hideout. However, almost immediately upon their arrival, Zenigata and his men surround the place. Being at a loss as to why their location was exposed so easily, they discover an online show going viral. The show’s name, “Arrest Lupin III” where people all over the world participate, providing information and summoning up suspects.
Thus, a new TV series centering on 2 capitals – Tokyo and Paris, begins.
“The master gentleman thief is back to France, the origins of his grandfather’s home turf. He’ll carry his Walther P38 and drive cool classic cars but use current technology at his disposal for a modern twist. It’s something the world has been waiting for, including myself!” said Masami Tokunaga, Vice President of TMS USA.
Lupin the 3rd has been around for 50 years. It first began as a manga series in 1967 written and illustrated by Monkey Punch. A popular, long-running TV series followed in 1971. It has spawned seven animated theatrical films.
