Disney Face Masks – Including Baby Yoda! – Benefits Charity

Face Mask

Disney is releasing a line of themed face masks – including Baby Yoda (!!) – that will benefit the charity MedShare.

The line of Disney face masks feature classic Disney characters, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel designs.  And, of course, as your official Geekiary Baby Yoda correspondent, I am most excited for the Baby Yoda one, which comes with R2D2, A New Hope, and a Star Wars symbol design.

While all the designs are pretty awesome, let’s be real here… I would buy multiple of just Baby Yoda. I love all of the Star Wars designs, though, and if I do end up going to a Disney park in the next year I will probably buy that set.

This Marvel set is also pretty awesome, featuring a Hulk face, a Marvel logo, Black Panther, and classic Avengers images. In this situation, I truly wish they were sold separately because I’m not too particularly keen on the Hulk one. Perhaps I could donate it to someone in need, however. Might as well get in the charitable spirit, eh? Take what you want, then pass the unwanted designs on to another.

There’s a lot to choose from, however, and I fully expect that when the parks reopen there will be a ton of them all over the place. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if masks are mandatory for a while once the parks eventually reopen, with these probably being sold outside the gate for those that didn’t come prepared. That last bit is speculation on my part, but it seems likely, all things considered.

The masks come in three sizes – small, medium, and large. It doesn’t appear that all designs come in all sizes, however, so pay attention to which ones you’re ordering. Thankfully they have a handy sizing chart to help you figure that part out.

The Shop Disney website states the following about this charity and merchandise event:

Disney is committed to serving the communities where we live and work. During these challenging times, we’re using the power of our timeless stories and beloved characters to address our guests’ needs for family-friendly reusable cloth face masks.

Disney is donating one million cloth face masks for children and families in underserved and vulnerable communities across the U.S. that will be distributed by MedShare (www.medshare.org). Disney will also donate all profits from the sales in the U.S. of Disney’s cloth face masks to Medshare, up to $1 million, now through September 30, 2020.

MedShare, which was founded in 1998, has been helping distribute PPE to hospitals in need during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, they focused on recovering surplus medical supplies and equipment from U.S. hospitals and manufacturers, and redistributing them to hospitals in developing countries. Medshare has a four-star rating on Charity Navigator.

The face masks are currently available for pre-order in four-packs on Shop Disney for $19.99. The expected ship date is June 15th, 2020, which makes me think the Disney parks won’t be open before that. Update: The new shipping date is July, so if you missed out on the first batch you’ll have to wait for the second.

Who knows though?  Everything is up in the air so we may be surprised.
