The Avengers Campus is Coming to Disneyland on June 4th!
Disney has announced that the long-anticipated Avengers Campus will be opening on June 4th at Disney’s California Adventure at Disneyland Resort!
We’ve been tracking the opening of the Avengers Campus for years, getting progressively excited with each new tidbit, including their continued work on the new land during the pandemic shut down. I was supposed to visit it last summer as part of an extended California vacation, but, well, the world went to hell and here we are. But on June 4th, 2021, the new land in Disney’s California Adventure will finally open.
The new land, which is located in what was formerly the Hollywood Backlot section of California Adventure, will have attractions such as WEB – Spider-man Experience, the new food option called the Pym Test Kitchen, and a show called Doctor Strange: Journey Into The Mystic Arts. There will also be a space called the Avengers Headquarters, which was initially scheduled to have a delayed opening, but with the pandemic, it could very well open along with the rest of the attractions.
Additional tidbits were teased in a webcast with CNBC and Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Josh D’Amaro:
“I think it’s going to be an unbelievable addition to California Adventure. If you think about the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] and what’s happening on that front, as recently as ‘WandaVision,’ it’s hot. It’s a hot franchise. And we now have the ability to open this thing up to the world.”
My guess is that characters from WandaVision would be appearing as characters roaming about the park, and not something in new attractions, but who knows really. I suppose the Avengers Headquarters could be malleable enough to toss in new franchises pretty easily.
The Disneyland Resort will be opening at 15% capacity on April 30th, and I doubt it’ll be ramped up to full capacity by summer, so to you lucky few who get into the gates for this, congratulations! Please take plenty of pictures for the rest of us.
