Game of Thrones: Kingsroad puts you in the shoes of an illegitimate child from a small noble house in the North, House Tyre. You will aim to restore your house to its former glory after the death of your brothers and the “looming” threat of winter. The gameplay will involve you needing to solidify your political position as you navigate through the ever-sensitive socio-political web that exists between the noble houses of Westeros. You will need to find allies while assisting the Night’s Watch prepare for the confrontation with the White Walkers and the army of the dead beyond the Wall.
The combat system involves dodging and parrying. You will need to apply strategy to counter opponents’ attacks after analyzing their offensive patterns. Attacks can be chained and you can also use certain unique skills. The three distinct classes are the Knight, Sellsword, and Assassin. Each Class has unique strengths and weaknesses.
From the promotional material, the Knight seems to be wielding a two-handed sword, the Sellsword has an Axe, and the Assassin has dual shortswords/daggers. Other weapons include crossbows and longbows. Weapons can also be enhanced with spells. For example, certain promotional material shows the weapons being covered in flames.
The Assassin focuses on quick strikes. The Sellsword deals heavy damage even though he’s comparatively slow while swinging his axe. The Sellsword can also intimidate enemies. The Knight seems to strike a balance between the Assassin and Sellsword.
Though the game will include numerous elements from the long-running show, including character visuals based on the live-action series, there’s a more obvious fantastical vibe. So, yeah, along with dragons, you will be able to challenge yourself against a variety of fantastical creatures from the Game of Thrones lore. Fans will also get to enjoy new locations that weren’t explored in the live-action series.
