Claws 2×10 Review: Breezy
‘Breezy’ ended up serving as an awesome season two finale of Claws. It gave me everything I was hoping for and a lot more. I can’t wait for the third season to premiere next year!
I was provided a screener of ‘Breezy’ for review. The opinions are my own.
I have been looking forward to the season two finale because I wanted to know if the writers would end things on a cliffhanger while keeping Zlata as well as Gregory around or if they will close that chapter. Turns out even though ‘Breezy’ did finish on a cliffhanger, Zlata and Gregory are no more. So, the third season is going to introduce newer problems for Desna and her crew.
I liked Zlata and Gregory as this season’s villains. However, I’m glad the writers didn’t decide to drag their stories any further. Dealing with them taught Desna some valuable lessons and I’m interested in seeing her grow further as a person and as the boss she is.
In the previous episode, Desna accepted being a criminal. And after dealing with Zlata and Gregory, ‘Breezy’ also showed her stand up to Uncle Daddy. Desna let him know she’s going to be her own boss. Even though Roller sided with her, you can be sure Uncle Daddy is going to want revenge.
As for the rest of the crew, the moment Virginia began narrating the episode, you could tell something bad was going to happen. Sure enough, the cliffhanger was Virginia getting shot when she tried to save Desna’s life by pushing her away from gunfire. I don’t think Virginia is dead, but it was still a very powerful scene.
Virginia and Desna’s relationship has developed a lot since the first season. While the rest of Desna’s crew think of each other as sisters, Virginia has more of a ‘mother-daughter’ bond going on with Desna.
Polly also returned to her friends and helped around with the wedding preparations. Also, in a surprising move, Arlene came to Desna’s aid. I hope Arlene and Quiet Ann figure out some way to rekindle their relationship.
Some thoughts and questions:
- Is anyone shocked about Uncle Daddy having a hand in killing Roller and Bryce’s parents?
- Even though the writers have brought Desna and Roller back together, I still think she can do so much better than him. They both tried to kill each other in the first season.
- I like Polly and Ken as a couple. Here’s to hoping she can deal with the Lillian problem.
- I would have liked to see Jenn and Quiet Ann have more to do during the finale.
Did you watch the Claws season two finale? What did think of ‘Breezy’? Let us know.
