Comic-Con: Vikings Takeover!
Considering I wrote a recommendation for History Channel’s Vikings last year, I obviously really enjoy the show – and because of that I’m super excited about everything Vikings-related at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The official panel is on Friday at 3:30 PM in Room 6A of the convention center, and will feature Travis Fimmel (Ragnar), Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha), Clive Standen (Rollo), and Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn), as well as writer/creator Michael Hirst and History Channel’s EVP & General Manager, Dirk Hoogstra. As usual with SDCC panels, this one will discuss the series and show a sneak peak of season three, which will air in 2016.
There are also plenty of other awesome Vikings activities going on in the area if you can’t make it to the panel! Last year they passed out drinking horns, and that promotion is happening again this year. Many Gaslamp Quarter bars (including Analog Bar, Florent Restaurant & Lounge, East Village Tavern + Bowl, and The New Yorker, plus more) are offering drink specials to horn-holders. Keep an eye out for the Vikings Brand Ambassadors and Shield Maidens to get a hold of a horn of your own!
Additionally, booth #437 in the Convention Center features a cinematic Instagram booth where fans can create their own Viking battle – authentic costumes are even provided! The 15 second clips will be sharable on Instagram and other social media platforms.
What I’m probably most excited about, though, is the Vikings longship that will be offering rides through Downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter, as well as sailing the harbor on Friday and Saturday evenings. Fans will also have a chance to win a sunset cruise aboard the longship…with the cast! Follow @HistoryVikings for details on where the longship will stop, how to win that sunset cruise, and more.
