Nintendo announced Donkey Kong Bananza on April 2nd of this year. Donkey Kong Bananza allows players to control the famous Donkey Kong. DK aims to retrieve stolen banana-shaped diamonds from his rivals. There are two notable changes to the series. The game features a DK with a contemporary design. The game also features destructible environments. For instance, DK can break down walls and even dig underground to new areas. Apparantly, almost any type of surface can be destroyed.
The development of the game began soon after 2014. But work started and stopped, overcoming cancellation and a seven-year development cycle.
Fans are excited because this is the first major DK title since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in 2014 and the first 3D DK platform game since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999.
Donkey Kong Bananza launches July 17, 2025, and costs $69.99. Pre-orders are open.
Here’s the action-packed trailer!
Fans are excited about the mechanic that allows DK to break most things. This game is surely going to showcase how much the recently released Nintendo Switch 2 can take.
Even though it faced criticism for its increased price, the handheld went on to sell more than 3.5 million units worldwide within four days of release, becoming the fastest-selling console by Nintendo.
