Lucifer Season 2 – DVD Review
Lucifer Season 2 brought about some exciting events in the series. With the third season to debut this October, you can catch up binge-watch the second season and enjoy extra features on Lucifer: The Complete Second Season DVD set.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.
Lucifer Season 2 stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Tricia Helfer, Aimee Garcia, Scarlett Estevez and Rachael Harris. The series is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo from DC Entertainment.
The show is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television. Tom Kapinos developed the series and serves as executive consultant. The series is all set to return to FOX for a third season in October. It is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Joe Henderson, Ildy Modrovich, Len Wiseman and Sheri Elwood.
Coming to the events of Lucifer Season 2, the relationship between Lucifer Morningstar and LAPD Detective Chloe Decker deepens (yet awkward) as the two continue to solve murders in L.A. To make things even more interesting, Charlotte (Lucifer’s mother) escapes Hell and there’s a lot of emotional baggage to deal with.
Lucifer has to team up with his brother (an angel by the name Amenadiel) to deal with their mother. As Lucifer and Amenadiel don’t have the perfect sibling relationship, it’s fun to see them interact with each other. Furthermore, Dr. Linda (played amazingly by Rachael Harris) finds herself falling deeper into Lucifer’s world.
As a fan of the series, you might have wondered why Lucifer looks as if he’s vulnerable around Chloe. In Lucifer Season 2 we get to know about the secret behind Chole’s birth and it adds another layer to her character.
The overall writing continues to be great. Even though the main character is a demon, the show doesn’t get too dark and continues to be an interesting murder-solving series. Being the main focus, Lucifer’s mother added a lot to the second season. She wants to go back to Heaven and exact revenge while her sons are trying to deal with her.
The finale of Lucifer Season can be described as ‘angelic.’ Also, the last four episodes from the second season were made part of the third season so I’m excited to see what happens next.
As far as the Lucifer Season 2 DVD is concerned, it comes packaged in a slipcase. The front has the main artwork while the back has images and the list of special features. You’ll also find a booklet inside that lists all of the episodes with the synopsis. There are also more images and the series’ credits.
The DVD is a three-disc set that has all 18 episodes. This standard DVD release didn’t give rise to any problems with sound or picture quality. Disc 1 also includes the Lucifer: 2016 Comic-Con Panel that is around 27:16 minutes long. We also covered the show’s Press Room!
The second disc has the Gag Reel (around five minutes long) along with the ‘Reinventing Lucifer in the City of Angels’ featurette which is close to fifteen minutes long. The deleted scenes are included on all three discs.
All in all, the Lucifer Season 2 DVD, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, is a great way to catch up to the series if you haven’t already. Also, as a fan, it includes some fun extra content that justifies the price tag.
