Marvel Comics Releases Previews for Free Comic Book Day 2025

With Free Comic Book Day or FCBD 2025 being held on May 3, Marvel Comics has gone ahead and released a bunch of previews for stories featuring the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Star Wars, and more.

The tales present in Marvel Comics’ FCBD offering are supposed to help new and returning readers with an entry point for what’s to come for the Fantastic Four, the Amazing Spider-Man, the X-Men lines, and it includes a glimpse at the new Ultimate Universe.

The company is also giving readers a Star Wars Free Comic Book Day title. This is the second year in a row such a title is being released. Not only that but there’s also a special Free Comic Book Day 2025 edition of Marvel’s Voices that features creators and characters from diverse backgrounds.

Let’s go over the books!

Fantastic Four/Giant-Size X-Men #1

This one has been written by Ryan North, Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing & Chip Zdarsky with art by Humberto Ramos, Edgar Delgado, Chip Zdarsky & Iban Coello.

North and Ramos tell a story in which the FF responds to an unusual interdimensional summons. 

Kelly and Lanzing share a story that has been described as, “on the eve of the birth of the ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT X-MEN, there is one extra mutant in attendance. WHO is it?”

Zdarsky also has something up his sleeves, but it’s meant to be a surprise.

Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1

It has been written by Joe Kelly, Deniz Camp & Cody Ziglar with art by John Romita Jr. & Jonas Scharf.

Kelly and Romita Jr. are going to remind readers who Peter Parker and Spider-Man are. The glimpse at the Ultimate Universe will be by Camp, Ziglar & Jonas Scharf.

Free Comic Book Day 2025 – Star Wars #1

The Star Wars tale has been written by Alex Segura, Charles Soule & Marc Guggenheim with art by Phil Noto, Luke Ross, Stefano Raffaele & Madibek Musabekov.

This particular title is meant to help readers get excited about the new era of Star Wars comics. The story will have Luke Skywalker finding himself “in a wretched hive of scum and villainy facing off against pirates!”

It will have Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Tensu Run hurting for the villainous Corlis Rath.

And there’s a mystery surrounding Vanee and his connection to Darth Vader & Kylo Ren.

Ironheart/Marvel’s Voices #1

Featuring writers Justina Ireland & more with art by Julian Shaw & more, the Ironheart story is by Ireland and it will have the titular character delve into Chicago’s past for a tale about “Black innovation through the ages”.

Readers will get to explore the past year of the Voices anthologies by visiting Mystique and Destiny’s wedding, Patriot’s return to being a superhero, the introduction of a new Ghost-Rider, and more.

Iron Man & His Awesome Friends/Spidey & His Amazing Friends #1

The Iron Man story has Iron Man, Ironheart, Iron Hulk, and others from the upcoming Disney Jr. show. Along with that, the easy-to-read Spider-Man story features Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, and Spin trying to keep the city safe through activity pages.

Iron Man & His Awesome Friends is supposed to debut sometime this summer on Disney+ and Disney Jr. It stars Tony Stark, Riri Williams, and Amadeus Cho. The upcoming animated series is similar to Spidey & His Amazing Friends which debuted back in August 2021.
