Phoenix Jean Grey and Blade Debut in “Marvel Rivals” Season 3 This July!

It’s almost time! Fans have been waiting for Jean Grey and Blade to debut in the action-heavy Marvel Rivals video game, and both iconic characters will be seen in Season 3.
Marvel Rivals Season 3: The Abyss Awakens will continue to focus on Knull, the God of Symbiotes. The promotional trailer shows Hela, the Goddess of Death, becoming one of his Avatars. She soon finds herself fighting Phoenix Jean Grey and Blade as Knull menacingly announces his arrival.
The upcoming third season of Marvel Rivals will kick off come July 11, 2025. Along with the two new characters, the update will also introduce a new map named Klyntar: Celestial Husk. Of course, the upcoming season will be accompanied by game mechanic changes, including new features, special events, and Team-Ups. According to the dev team, they plan on launching a new season every two months.
I mean, while that sounds a bit too hasty, I can’t blame them. Marvel Rivals is experiencing a lot of popularity in the gaming scene and on social media. Ramping up the content release roadmap makes sense.
Talking about the story elements, on the Mosaic (Space) Timeline, the Phoenix and Jean Grey have become one after fully accepting each other. She’s been traveling through the universe to help beings across the galaxy. The Timestream Entanglement caused Phoenix Jean Grey to sense the awakening of a terrible darkness at the edge of the known universe, a darkness that had already corrupted numerous Gods and even caused her to feel a sharp psychic pain. Understandably, Phoenix Jean Grey wants to end said darkness.
Phoenix Jean Grey will be part of the video game as a Duelist. I like how the Phoenix Force has been visualized as a separate fire-y entity flying around Jean. Her Ultimate will deal damage while also clearing Enemy Summons from the battlefield.
She’s also part of the new Primal Flame Team-Up with Wolverine. Serving as the Anchor, she infuses Wolverine with the Phoenix Force. Upon unleashing his Feral Leap, the Phoenix Force activates to cause overtime Burning Damage to enemies and adds Lifesteal to all of Logan’s attacks.
The highly anticipated Blade will show up during Season 3.5.
You can learn more details about the updates and patch fixes in this dev video.
Released back on December 6, 2024, the game has gone on to reach more than 40 million players.
The premise deals with Doctor Doom meeting his heroic 2099 counterpoint and causing the Timestream Entanglement. The event served as a way for heroes and villains from across the multiverse to share the same space.
