Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1×173 Review – “The Secret Behind the Underground Room”
‘The Secret Behind the Underground Room’ showed us what Victor’s been working on. With how things went, I wouldn’t be surprised if our heroes continue to face even more trouble in the upcoming episodes.
I have been waiting for Konohamaru and Mugino to break into Victor’s lab and it finally happened in the latest episode. ‘The Secret Behind the Underground Room’ had Konohamaru and Mugino use the Feudal Lord’s inspection to come up with a plan. I think it was clear the two transformed themselves into the Feudal Lord’s bodyguards. However, what did surprise me was the Feudal Lord’s initial response to Victor’s experiments.
I understood why the Feudal Lord would be proud of Victor conducting medical research that could change the world. The results would make the Land of Valleys one of the most important territories. But seeing the Feudal Lord ignoring Victor’s unethical human experiments didn’t sit well with me. I don’t think we have ever seen a downright evil Feudal Lord in the Naruto and Boruto franchises.
That’s why the reveal that the Feudal Lord had been put under Genjutsu by Victor to not clearly see what was actually going on in the underground laboratory made sense to me. As I said, I don’t think having any of the Feudal Lords turn evil would be the right choice for such a series. There’s already too much trouble for our heroes to handle.
With the Divine Tree beginning to grow, I’m looking forward to seeing how Konohamaru and Mugino will stop it. Boruto and Salad were en route to lend a hand. This will be the first time any of them would have to face the Divine Tree. While Konohamaru was a young ninja during the Fourth Great Ninja War, he didn’t participate in the battlefield. So, he doesn’t know the true power of the Divine Tree. He could have read about it over the years, though. Also, with the current plant being a miniature version, maybe it will be easier to destroy? Let’s see what happens.
‘The Secret Behind the Underground Room’ did mention Boruto changing as a person. He told Salad he wasn’t interested in barging into situations anymore because his recklessness got Mitsuki injured. Considering how the anime has been known to change Boruto’s personality depending on the plot, it will be interesting to see if such a shift sticks down the line.
As for Mitsuki, according to Orochimaru, his recovery will require another month. That’s a lot of time for Mitsuki to be benched considering what Victor just did. I think that Boruto and Salad will get their rematch with Deepa. However, our young heroes will lose. I don’t see those two winning against Deepa until Mitsuki is able to come back.
Having said that, after Suigetsu shared information about what the remaining Team 7 was doing in the Land of Valleys, maybe Log (Mitsuki’s older brother, in a technical sense) will go to help them instead of Mitsuki?
There’s a lot that can happen. That’s why I don’t think this current arc will end anytime soon. Victor and Deepa are formidable opponents and with the Divine Tree (even if it’s a smaller version) in the mix, the odds aren’t favoring our heroes.
