“Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle” Use Total Solar Eclipse For Promo
With the first solar eclipse since 1979 to occur on August 21, 2017, the natural phenomenon is being used by 20th Century Fox to promote Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
According to the promotion, the 20th Century Fox marketing team have created the “The Greatest Movie Promo Ever,” revealing that they’re behind the solar eclipse. Wondering how the team pulled off such a feat? There’s a video explaining everything!
Here’s the statement by the studio:
You won’t believe what this marketing team did to promote the upcoming film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. In what is being called “The Greatest Movie Promo Ever,” 20th Century Fox has orchestrated a Solar Eclipse to promote Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The studio has also released a behind-the-scenes look into the process behind the visionary stunt, which will be a part of the their upcoming holiday, #GoldenCircleDay, this Monday 8/21/17. 20th Century Fox has also created a special set of Harry Hart sunglasses to view the eclipse. Without the use of these special sunglasses, the total eclipse could be the last thing you ever see. Happy Golden Circle Day!
While the “Harry Hart Sunglasses” look cool, I haven’t tested out these glasses so I don’t know how safe they are for viewing an eclipse.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service. It stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal, Sophie Cookson, and Elton John.
The first film premiered back in 2014 and was able to make $414 million at the box office on a $94 million budget.
Set for a September 22, 2017, release in the US, The Golden Circle has been directed by Matthew Vaughn. He also co-wrote the script with Jane Goldman.
