Spin Master & Claire Rosinkranz Team-up For “Mermaid High” Fashion Dolls and Online Content Launch!

Spin Master Corp. is ready to make an impressive splash with the debut of Mermaid High™, a collection of fashion dolls with animated digital content and a vlog-style series. To introduce the line, Spin Master will have Californian native, singer-songwriter Claire Rosinkranz host a YouTube Live on Saturday, October 23 at 9:00 a.m. PST / 12:00 p.m. EST!

Claire Rosinkranz will be performing ‘Mermaid High’, the original theme song that describes the dual worlds that the core fictional characters experience because of being mermaids. The main characters include Searra™, Finly™, Oceanna™, and Mari™. These merfriends, with unique styles and personalities, flip their tails into legs during the day and have to “navigate the unchartered waters of high school (on land) and keep their secret from their new human friends.”

“‘Mermaid High’ is a song about growing up,” shared young talent Rosinkranz. “It’s the perfect introduction to the world of Mermaid High that shows the importance of friendship to get you through the ups and downs.”

Each Mermaid High Fashion Doll comes with removable premium fabric mermaid tails, unique outfits, and six accessories from sunglasses and beach duffle bags to shell headphones and tentacle headbands. There’s also a mystery element via a surprise accessory hidden inside a shell. Just drop the shell into a bowl of warm water and watch as it magically pops open, revealing another “secret” accessory. The hair is fully style-friendly and you can learn more about each doll’s personality from their Mermaid High Student ID.

The Mermaid High dolls will be available for purchase come October 22, 2021, at all major retailers. They have been deemed suitable for kids aged 4 and up. Each doll has a suggested retail price of $26.99.

Judging by the images, I like the skin tones and facial features the production team was able to cover with just four dolls. Also, I like how these fashion dolls are nicely articulated. I can live with a fashion doll not having ankle or wrist joints, but they need to have elbow and knee joints! The duality (mermaid tails and legs) adds to their overall playability. I wouldn’t be surprised if certain doll collectors end up customizing the fabric mermaid tails.

Along with the fashion doll line, Spin Master’s Mermaid High franchise will include a Mermaid High Animated Series consisting of ten, 2–3-minute animated shorts on YouTube. Each episode will focus on the mermaids swimming to shore and facing the challenges of high school as well as address the predicaments of growing up.

The first episode of the animated series will be available on October 23, 2021, on the Mermaid High YouTube channel. Episodes will be released bi-weekly.

Not only that, complementing the animated shorts, is a Mermaid High Deep Dive vlog-style series. The ten, 8–10-minute episodes feature live talent “chatting about the latest haps at school and recaps on the animated series including Easter eggs hidden in each episode.” Content will also include tutorials on “How To Look Like Your Favorite Mermaid”, Mermaid High doll style inspiration, and character quizzes.

The first episode of the Mermaid High Deep Dive Vlog will be available on October 30, 2021, on the Mermaid High YouTube channel. Episodes will be released bi-weekly.

The Mermaid High brand will also make an appearance in the RPG Mermaid Life, developed by Fullflower Studio for Roblox. Starting November 1, 2021, players can purchase the Mermaid High dolls’ outfits and accessories for in-app play. Each week there will be a new quest around each of the Mermaid High characters giving players a chance to get exclusive items, ending the Mermaid High blitz with a big dance party featuring the Mermaid High theme song.

Coming back to the musically talented host and VMA-winner, take note; Rosinkranz will perform the Mermaid High theme song plus four of her own original songs on the Mermaid High Official YouTube Channel on Saturday, October 23 at 9:00 a.m. PST / 12:00 p.m. EST. The song will also be available for streaming on Spotify.

Having snooped around the official website a bit, I found out that along with being mermaids, the main Mermaid High characters have special abilities. Each mermaid also has a pet!
