Here are the premiere dates and an overview for SyFy Channel’s summer programming line-up, including returning favorites like Dominion and Defiance, and new shows like Dark Matter.
The science fiction series Defiance, set well in the future on an earth transformed by an alien war, with different races including humans working to co-inhabit the planet, has its 2-hour season premiere on Friday, June 12 at 8 pm. It will lead in to Dark Matter, a new show about six people who wake up on a neglected spaceship with no memory of how they got there or why, starting Friday, June 12 at 10 pm. The series is based on the graphic novel “Dark Matter” by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
Killjoys comes from Michelle Lovretta, creator of Lost Girl, and Temple Street Productions, which produces Orphan Black, and debuts Friday, June 19 at 9 pm. The new show follows a trio of multi-planetary bounty hunters chasing warrants in a system on the brink of a war.
The post-apocalyptic urban fantasy Dominion, in which humans fend off angels who attempt to take over the planet in god’s absence, returns for its second season Thursday, July 9 at 10 pm. Defiance and Dominion were previously paired together on Thursday nights.
Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) produces and hosts a new game-show Geeks Who Drink, premiering Thursday, July 16 at 11:30 pm. Teams consisting of two experts and a celebrity “team captain” will face off in a trivia contest. The show is based on a popular pub trivia game.
Special effects make-up competition Face Off returns Tuesday, July 28 at 9 pm.
Finally, for fans of Sharknado, which took B-movie goofiness to a new level, Sharknado Week runs Saturday, July 18 to Saturday, July 25. The next instalment in the Sharknado movie franchise, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, will air Wednesday, July 22 at 9 pm.
