Trailer Released for Ryan Murphy’s New Netflix Show “The Politician”

Netflix has paid Ryan Murphy a whole lot of money ($300 million) to create projects for the streaming service. One of these projects is The Politician which will premiere come September 27, 2019. Regardless of how it’s received, at least the trailer gave us an iconic line from Jessica Lange.

Every high school has a lot of politics to be dealt with, especially for students who wish to become presidents of some year or club. The Politician tells the story of Payton Hobart (Ben Platt). He is extremely ambitious and wants to become the President of the USA. However, every journey has milestones and ruling the student body is what currently takes priority.

What some might think to be a simple race involving teens is revealed to be a web of tactics which isn’t easy to navigate. The trailer for the show features Murphy’s over-the-top and somewhat dark comedic sense. Time will tell how this series is received because we all know Murphy’s work can go either way as his series’ continue (Sigh! Glee and Scream Queens). At least, Pose has been consistent when it comes to quality content even though it has had certain weird moments (writing-wise).

It’s so good to see Jessica Lange again!

Of course, there’s going to be a whole lot of queer representation in the upcoming series. It’s a Ryan Murphy show after all.

The cast includes Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett.

The first season is said to have eight episodes.

Again, I hope this show does well. Also, I’m looking forward to seeing what else Murphy has got planned for Netflix and how he can help the streaming service stand apart from the competition.
