“Vikings” Season 6 Volume 2 Gets Blu-ray & DVD Release This March!

Fans of the long-running Vikings TV series can look forward to owning Vikings season 6 volume 2 when it hits Blu-ray and DVD come March 15, 2022. Vikings: The Complete Series will also be released on the same date.

From Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Vikings season 6 volume 2 will be available for purchase on Blu-ray for $29.98 USD and on DVD for $24.98 USD. The upcoming home release will include the final 10 episodes along with extra content for fans to enjoy. For those wondering, the episodes will be the extended international versions.

As for the Vikings: The Complete Series, it will be available on Blu-ray for $159.99 USD and on DVD for $134.99 USD.

The official description for the sixth season reads:

In season six, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), and Torvi (Georgia Hirst) travel to Iceland to uncover the mystery circling Floki’s (Gustaf Skarsgård) disappearance and Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) pursues his personal vendetta against Ivar. The saga continues the exploits of chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his crew while exploring Bjorn’s reign over Kattegat, Ivar’s adventures in Rus and Wessex, and Ubbe’s expeditions to Iceland and North America.

Created and executive produced by Michael Hirst (The Tudors), Vikings is also executive produced along with Morgan O’Sullivan of TM Productions (The Count of Monte Cristo), Sheila Hockins (The Tudors, The Borgias), John Weber of Take 5 Productions (The Handmaid’s Tale), Sherry Marsh (Pose), Alan Gasmer (Fahrenheit 451), and James Flynn (The Tudors, The Borgias).

The Blu-ray and DVD features include:

• New and Exclusive Bonus Content: The Vikings Series Finale: Audio Commentary with Creator Michael Hirst and Series Star Georgia Hirst

The 10 One-Hour Episodes are:

• All At Sea
• The Final Straw
• The Raft of Medusa
• It’s Only Magic

• The Last Act

The video is presented in a 16×9 widescreen format. The running time comes in at approximately  458 minutes. The enhanced content is approximately 25 minutes. The Blu-ray and DVD home releases for Vikings season 6 volume 2 are 3 disc sets.

The complete series home release is also presented in 16×9 widescreen format with a running time of approximately 3,786 minutes. The complete series set of the Vikings TV show consists of 27 discs. 

The Vikings live-action TV series debuted back in March of 2013. The series finale aired on Amazon Prime in December of 2020. The show does have some queer representation (via Ragnar Lothbrok, Lagertha, and Astrid), however, certain fans feel it could have been better written.

Take note; a spin-off titled Vikings: Valhalla is planned to be released on Netflix come February 25, 2022. Hopefully, it will deliver well-written queer representation.
