Indie publisher Ratalaika Games, together with Venturous, has announced that Voyage will be released on August 12, 2022. Coming to the PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch, the upcoming title is all about relaxation and exploration in a beautiful in-game world.

While I enjoy games heavy on action, horror, and gore, I also appreciate titles that allow me to unwind as I relax after a busy day. Voyage looks ready to give me that. The side-scrolling casual adventure game is about two survivors who find themselves on an unknown planet. The game can be played by yourself or cooperatively. Upon launch, it will be priced at $14.99/€14.99.

The gameplay will include obstacles to hinder your ability to progress forward. Considering this is supposed to be a relaxing game, I doubt overcoming the obstacles will be tough. As you make your way through the locations you will get to learn more about the past. Apparently, there are three stories being told simultaneously through ‘gameplay’ (the actual journey), ‘statue scenes’ (big sisters’ personal memories), and ‘murals’ (telling the story of the planet and the inhabitants).

Talking more about the gameplay, if you decide to go for a single-player experience, the other character will be controlled by AI. Solving puzzles will require cooperation. For example, you will need to push pillars, move objects, and help each other with climbing. The game has a replayability factor when it comes to conclusions.

Here’s the teaser!

The environments are handpainted. You will get travel through sunlit ruins, windy grasslands, sandstorm-filled desserts, misty forests, swamps, caves, mossy forests, underwater, and even a spaceship. There are also a ton of creatures for players to interact with. Some creatures have a bigger role in the overall story.

Being a game with no audible voices and text dialogue, the music and sound are by Calum Bowen, composer of Snipperclips, Pikuniku, and Lovely Planet.

Judging by the teaser, I do like the overall vibe of the game. And for those who might not know, Voyage was released on Steam back in February of 2021. It was developed by André Steen and Johan Steen at Venturous.

Will you be picking up Voyage?
