Comixology Originals Horror Story “Exorcism Island” Gets October Debut!

From writer Jordan Thomas and artist Chris Matthews, the Comixology Originals horror story Exorcism Island issue 1 will debut on October 21, 2025.
The upcoming Excorcism Island will be a 5-issue miniseries, which, as the title states, is going to feature an island where exorcisms are performed. According to the press release I received, this will be a globe-spanning tale tackling creepy demonic possessions being addressed by a band of priests.
The first issue follows Father Gigi Amato being sent to a remote Caribbean Island (aka Exorcism Island) run by the Vatican as the newest recruit for a team of priests overseeing numerous possession cases. Gigi recently experienced a terrifying confrontation with a possessed woman. He’s obviously still getting over the trauma, making his latest task all the more daunting, even if he’s operating as part of a team. From what I can tell, Gigi seems to be a person who wants to uncover a scientific reason for a person’s behavior instead of easily labeling them as possessed. But with how things panned out in the first chapter, I think he will be coming around to accepting the existence of the demonic supernatural ASAP. Or perhaps there’s something more behind his hesitation? Hmmm.
Full disclosure, I was sent a review copy of Exorcism Island issue 1 for free. So, without giving anything away, I will share that I like the art style. The limited use of color helps give the visuals a more eerie vibe. I also liked how the panels played around with the timeline as Gigi gets on the plane to the island. With the story dealing with demonic possessions, be ready for a whole lot of profanity, slurs, and nudity in just the debut issue. The cliffhanger was expected, but the creative team was still able to make the moment feel organic instead of bringing it up for shock value.
Of course, the narrative will continue to deal with the dynamic between the priests. So, I’m looking forward to learning more about their backstories. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a clearly queer priest or two on the team, instead of a demon saying stuff to get under their skin.
The creative team will also, I’m assuming, hold a mirror up to some of the ways the Vatican has operated, drawing parallels to certain real-life situations.

“Exorcism Island takes the tradition of the best demonic possession stories and cranks it up several notches with ever-escalating terror and tense cliffhangers,” shared Jordan Thomas (The Man From Maybe and Skin Police). “This is a story that is both horrifying and highly entertaining. And Chris brings it all together with his unique and visually gripping graphic art style and color choices.”
Being an Amazon Comixology Originals exclusive, Exorcism Island will be available at no additional cost for members of Kindle Unlimited and Comixology Unlimited. You can buy it at amazon.com/comixology.
As of right now, I’m interested in reading issue 2 of Exorcism Island. Gigi and the rest are in real danger because these demons are not playing around.
