Alden Ehrenreich To Play Young Han Solo

Alden EhrenreichThe search appears to be over, Star Wars fans! Your new version of a young Han Solo will be played by relative newcomer Alden Ehrenreich.

Although no official announcement has been made by Disney, many sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, are reporting that Alden Ehrenreich is in the final stages of negotiations to play the popular role of Han Solo in a spinoff film slated for a 2018 release. After nearly 2500 young actors auditioned for the role, getting news that the field has been narrowed down to one individual is a feat in itself.

Although not a lot of information has been released about the film, we do know that the story will predate the original Star Wars: A New Hope and will feature Han Solo doing stuff with Chewbacca. (Who wouldn’t want to see the two of them mulling around space and getting into trouble?) There are also rumors that Ehrenreich’s first appearance as Han Solo will actually be in Rogue One, another Star Wars spinoff that is slated to be released in December 2016. Of course, this is all speculation, but it would definitely whet our appetites for more!

Ehrenreich is a Los Angeles native who was discovered by Steven Spielberg in a bar mitzvah video. He has gone onto to appear in several films including Blue Jasmine, Beautiful Creatures, and most recently Hail, Caesar! He also has the lead role in The Yellow Birds which will be released later this year. Needless to say, Ehrenreich is the new “it” actor, and I am looking forward to seeing him portray the iconic Han Solo.

Are you excited to see Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo? Was he your top pick? What adventures of Han and Chewie do you want to see come to life in the film? Let us know everything on your wish list in the comments!
