In surprising news, AMC has decided to postpone the premiere of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The latest The Walking Dead spin-off was supposed to debut on the network come April 12, 2020, right after the finale of TWD Season 10.

According to AMC, the world will get to see the spin-off “later this year” instead of next month. Frankly, I wasn’t expecting the upcoming series to be postponed. However, it seems the issue of (apparently) not being able to complete post-production due to the current medical emergency is being presented as one of the reasons.

The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead have halted productions. So, I guess TWD: World Beyond had to follow suit.

According to Deadline, another reason might deal with companies “shifting their ad spendings from the second quarter to later in the year, which is key to ad-supported networks like AMC.”

Tara, Bekah, and I were (kind of) looking forward to covering the finale of TWD Season 10 and the premiere of TWD: World Beyond in a single The Bitching Dead webcast next month. Now that can’t happen.

Well, at least, we’ll get to cover TWD Season 1o finale, right?

Yay, us!… Sigh!

Here’s our latest episode:

For those interested, TWD: World Beyond is supposed to be a two-season long limited series that will follow the first generation that was raised in a civilization surviving the zombie apocalypse.

I mean, it’s basically going to be to a zombie show with teens and I have no idea who wanted to see such a premise. The last thing we need in The Walking Dead franchise is more teens and young adults running around and being annoying.

The series has been co-created by Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete. The Walking Dead: World Beyond stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella, and Julia Ormond.

Tortorella will be playing a queer character named Felix Carlucci.

How do you feel about such a development? Let us know.
