Animated Movie “Craig Before The Creek” Gets Digital Release This December!

The long-running and queer-inclusive animated show Craig of the Creek is getting an all-new animated movie titled Craig Before the Creek come December 11, 2023. The initial Digital release will be followed by a DVD debut on March 6, 2024.

As the name states, Craig Before the Creek will serve as an origin story for Craig, JP, and Kelsey. Viewers will get to follow Craig’s adventure of moving to a new town, getting to learn about the nearby creek as well as a mysterious treasure that can grant wishes. Along the way, Craig will need to face numerous obstacles while making new friends. The stakes are high and the fate of the Creek hangs in the balance.

Cartoon Network will also air the movie on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:00 am ET/PT as well as on the next day on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 10:30 am ET/PT. With the network all set to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 15, 2024, viewers will get to enjoy a marathon block of original series, the Craig of the Creek spin-off Jessica’s Big Little World and Space Jam: A New Legacy. The content will be followed by an encore of Craig Before the Creek.

Currently airing its fifth season, the debut season of Craig of the Creek premiered in March of 2018. Created by Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, it has gone on to receive a whole lot of critical acclaim as well as positive audience response. The series has been nominated for Emmy, GLAAD, and NAACP Image Awards.

The queer content in the show includes lesbian couples, gay crushes, and non-binary characters. So, yay!

Craig Before the Creek features the voices of Philip Solomon as Craig, Noël Wells as Kelsey, H Michael Croner as JP, Vico Ortiz as Serena, Kimberly Hébert Gregory as Nicole, Byron Marc Newsome as Duane, Phil LaMarr as Bernard, and Lucia Cunningham as Jessica.

Produced by Cartoon Network Studios, it has been directed by Matt Burnett & Ben Levin and co-directed by Naija Porter. The screenplay is by Burnett & Levin from a story by Burnett, Tiffany Ford, Ashleigh Hairston, Levin, Dashawn Mahome, Naija Porter, and Jeff Trammell.

The approximate runtime is 87 minutes. It has been Rated TV-Y7.
