DC Comics: The Big Book of Wonder Woman – Review
DC Comics: The Big Book of Wonder Woman is Downtown Bookworks enjoyable tribute to the iconic Diana Prince. It talks about her history and is a good way to let kids learn more about her.
I was provided a review copy by Downtown Bookworks. The opinions are my own.
Wonder Woman has been having a very good year. We got her blockbuster solo-film, the upcoming Justice League movie, and The Big Book of Wonder Woman for anyone interested in gifting something awesome to a little reader. Written by Julie Merberg, this book talks about Diana’s origins, powers, friends, personality, and more.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The Big Book of Wonder Woman is an action-packed, beautifully illustrated tribute to the iconic super hero. Wonder Woman has been the most popular female super hero for more than 75 years! Smart, powerful, and kind, she is also an excellent role model for young girls. This book gives young fans (ages 4 and up) a detailed introduction to the Amazon princess—from her origin story and her extraordinary superpowers to her Justice League friends, her enemies, and her most impressive feats. Illustrated with classic DC comic book art, and packaged in a fabulous foil cover, this is a special addition to every super hero bookshelf.
The book is of high-quality. I really liked the foil cover. It’s so shiny! Also, with Diana blocking a bullet, the classic art on the book cover looks very dynamic without being overly sexualized. The quality of the 32-pages is sure to withstand accidental tears.
There are a lot of lessons kids can learn from this book. Even though Wonder Woman is a formidable powerhouse in her own right she understands the importance of friends and teamwork. Furthermore, she doesn’t let her incredible strength feed into her ego and stop her from being kind to others. Wonder Woman has been a symbol of peace and female empowerment for decades. I’m sure this book will help kids find their inner hero.
Releasing on November 28, 2017, DC Comics: The Big Book of Wonder Woman is currently available for pre-order.
