If you’re interested in testing your spelling skills while solving crimes and uncovering mysteries, Crossword City Chronicles might be the game for you. It will be released on Steam come January 25, 2021.
I’m a fan of Scrabble. However, playing Scrabble is no fun without a group of friends or family members (which can tough due to what the entire world is dealing with right now). And while there are online platforms for playing such games with other people, interacting with strangers can be a bit weird. You don’t have to worry about any of that with Crossword City Chronicles.
The upcoming Steam release combines word puzzles with a narrative featuring adventure, crime, and mystery.
You will get to play as a 1950s reporter to investigate crimes by using word-building skills to interview, interrogate, deceive, convince, or debate to accomplish your goals.
I’m all for a Scrabble game that offers you a storyline to progress through while testing your word-centric puzzle-solving skills.
Here’s the trailer!
The trailer showcases the different kinds of gameplay you can expect. You’ll be asked to place alphabet tiles on the board to form words (your usual Scrabble gameplay). However, there will also be stages where you’ll need to drop a single tile to activate bombs. The one where you have to place tiles to fill the “good cop” or “bad cop” meters is very interesting. I’m liking the variety.
Take note; even though this indie game‘s interface and story are available in English and French, the challenges can be played in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Dutch. You can change language at any point during play.
