Extraordinary X-Men to Start Magic-Focused Arc with ‘Kingdoms Fall’
With the Apocalypse Wars finally over, the Extraordinary X-Men wastes no time beginning a new arc with Kingdoms Fall.
I was excited about Apocalypse Wars when it was first announced. However, it got boring a few issues in, and I wanted it to end. This might also be due to the fact that during Apocalypse Wars we got a mini-story focusing on Magik and Sapna, a new mutant who saw magic as a unique language. She could also see portals in Limbo that Magik didn’t even know about. Now that was a story I wanted to read.
With Kingdoms Fall, writer Jeff Lemire will hopefully tell readers more about Sapna. I’m excited to know about the true extent of her powers and why stopping her is important to prevent the destruction of the world. The new arc will start in Extraordinary X-Men Issue 13. The released previews show Magik trying to track down Sapna after she ran away. The art is amazing because one of my favorite Marvel artists Victor Ibanez has joined the project. If it were up to me, I would have Ibanez draw all of the X-Men titles.
The upcoming arc will focus on an ancient being that devours mystical realms. I don’t know for how many issues the new arc will continue. However, it is confirmed that Storm and Magik will have to deal with Sapna and the ancient being at least till Issue 15, which will be released in October. Fingers crossed that we get to see Storm making use of her magical ancestry.
While I am excited for the new arc, it will also have a side-story focusing on Iceman and Nightcrawler trying to rescue Colossus from Apocalypse’s influence. I just hope the aftermath of Apocalypse Wars doesn’t prevent Kingdoms Fall from being the exciting story it has the potential to be.
Extraordinary X-Men Issue 13 will be released on 24th August, 2016.
