Female-Led Queer Christmas Movie “A Holiday I Do” Will Debut This November!
For those looking for a romantic queer female-led Christmas movie this year, you should consider checking out A Holiday I Do when it debuts on the Tello Films streaming service come November 10, 2023.
Starring Lindsay Hicks, Rivkah Reyes, Jill Larson, and more, A Holiday I Do has been promoted as having elements of romance, drama, and comedy for a feel-good holiday film everyone can enjoy. It has been co-directed by bisexual queer filmmaker Alicia Schneider who aims to diversify the Christmas movie genre.
As far as my opinion goes, there is a lack of holiday movies that feature queer women as leads compared to the ones that have queer men in lead or supporting roles. So, yay, to creative teams doing what they can to continue pushing the diversity needle forward.
The synopsis of the film shares that it is about a “frazzled” single mother named Jane (Hicks) who is raising a 10-year-old Lexi (Colette Hahn) while trying to manage the family’s Michigan horse farm following the loss of her father. However, Jane finds herself experiencing an “emotionally charged holiday” when she decides to be the best woman at her BFF and ex-husband Mark’s (Joe Piazza) wedding. Things continue to become dramatic due to Mark’s fiance (India Chappell), a raging blizzard, a no-nonsense banker (Marsha Warfield), and a newly sparked romance with the wedding planner Sue (Reyes).
Here’s the trailer!
I don’t know about you but Hicks is giving me Emma Roberts vibes. Also, I like how Jane’s mother (Larson) is quite supportive of her. However, as the trailer shows, the ultimate decision about what she wants to do with her life is Jane’s to make.
I do appreciate how the story has the ex-wife be queer. We don’t get a lot of content about queer divorced women raising a child with their ex-husband still in the picture.
There’s definitely chemistry between Jane and Sue. And as we already know that this is supposed to be a feel-good movie, I’m here for them having a happy ending.
A Holiday I Do has been written by Melinda Bryce, Paul Schneider (co-director), and Alicia Schnieder.
Take note; 10% of the producer’s proceeds will go to benefit The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving young LGBTQ+ lives.
You can check it out on the queer streaming service Tello Films on November 10, 2023.

From looking at the trailer, I can see that they wisely cut back on the snow scenes.
