First Wave of NYCC 2023 Guests Announced
Just about a week and a half ahead of the first of three presales for this year’s New York Comic Con, ReedPop has unveiled the first wave of guest announcements. Chris Evans, Ewan McGregor, and David Tennant are just a few of the celebrities who will be appearing at NYC’s annual pop culture convention!
NYCC 2023 is already shaping up to be a fantastic event, and tickets haven’t even gone on sale yet. I don’t want to make any definitive statements, but looking at the guest list, you can make some pretty good guesses about a few of the panels that will be happening as well.
For example, David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, and Karen Gillan are all slated to appear, which potentially means a Doctor Who panel – just in time for the series’ 60th anniversary, showcasing the return of Tennant as The Doctor.
But Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn are also on the list, which if you factor in Gillan could mean a Guardians of the Galaxy panel. Throw in Chris Evans and it can be a general MCU panel, too.
It looks like an Our Flag Means Death panel is a legitimate possibility when you see that Rhys Darby, Con O’Neill, Vico Ortiz, Kristian Nairn, Nathan Foad, and Matthew Maher are all scheduled to be in attendance.
You want some writers? Rachel Smythe, Chris Claremont, Jeff Smith, Rick Remender, Jorge Jiménez, Greg Capullo, Scott Snyder, Tom Taylor, and V.E. Schwab are all supposed to appear at this year’s event.
And this is only the first wave of guests! The full list can be found below:
We even have the first round of exhibitor confirmations. While we won’t know the full list for a while, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Crunchyroll, Funko, Mad Cave Studios, Toei Animation, and VIZ will all have a presence at the show. I’m particularly excited about the return of DC Comics, which sat out both NYCC and San Diego Comic-Con in 2022.
Tickets go on sale for the general public on June 21. Find out more here.
