Funko’s Plans for Toy Fair New York 2020

Toy Fair New York Funko 2020

Funko has mastered showing products at conventions, and the Toy Fair New York is a prime con to showcase exclusives and new products for die-hard Funko lovers.

Funko has announced the products they’ll be showcasing at the Toy Fair New York this year, and we’re in for a lot of great toys for all sorts of properties. Keep in mind this is a Trade Show, so there will no be con exclusives available at the Toy Fair. That said, there will be exclusives from various other retailers that will be showcased at their booth.

Most of the images supplied by Funko via their social media provide details regarding the products, including their exclusive status, so click through the galleries listed below for more information! I have categorized them by property or theme, along with a few miscellaneous categories for properties that aren’t bringing more than a couple of items each. Items include Pops, key chains, pens, games, and much more!

Buckle up, because I’m about to throw a lot of information at you. And there’s still more to come.

Boku no Hero Academia

The Boku no Hero Academia line up includes key chains, pencils, pops, and more! Of particular note is the super-sized 10-inch All Might Pop! and a Midnight Pop! The latter is a Galactic Toys exclusive.

There are far more BNHA items at this con than any other property by far. Which shouldn’t be surprising. It’s one of the most popular titles out there right now. (Side note: Tickets for the new Boku no Hero Academia film are on sale now!)

Besides the aforementioned Galactic Toys exclusive, some will be exclusive to Target, Amazon, Hot Topic, AAA Anime, and Game Stop. Scroll through the gallery and make note of the exclusives markings for details about where you can find each item.

Pokemon

We’ve got several awesome Pokemon toys coming to the New York Toy Fair this year. These were some of the first products teased this morning, which is no surprise as this series has endured as one of the most popular titles for over two decades.  Of particular note in this batch is the 10-inch Super Sized Mew Two Pop!, which will be a Target exclusive.

The Office

The Office is coming to the Toy Fair with some adorable key chains and Pop! dolls. There are several unique designs in the bunch, but make note of the stickers! Three of them are listed as exclusives.

The Boys

Amazon’s The Boys will be showcasing several Pops! at the event. Make note that the two of the Starlight collectibles are exclusives, one through Amazon which, like, makes sense all things considered. I’m surprised more of them aren’t Amazon exclusives considering the show is produced by Amazon Studios.

But anyway, check out the Pops! in the gallery below!

Marvel‘s Avengers

The Avengers Pops! are way cool. There are a few glow-in-the-dark Pops! all of which are exclusives through various retailers. I’m particularly interested in the glow-in-the-dark Thor, which will be an Amazon exclusive. Other glow-in-the-dark exclusives will be available at Walmart, Target, and Best Buy.

The non-glow-in-the-dark figures include Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and more!

Other Marvel

In addition to the above Avengers Pops!, we have a bunch of other Marvel figures coming to the New York Toy Fair, too. And holy crap, look at Valkyrie riding on a Pegasus! I’m going to be hunting that one down as soon as it hits shelves. It’s gorgeous. I need it.

Dragon Ball Super

It’s going to be an anime heavy year for Funko! Otaku, please stand up! There’s a lot to browse here.

Dragon Ball Super is coming to the con with a bunch of exclusives. And yes, they’ve got some glow-in-the-dark options, too! I’m loving the glow-in-the-dark ones. Gimmicky? Maybe. But I don’t care. They’re rad and I’m going to enjoy them.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

Continuing with the strong anime trend that Funko is leaning into for Toy Fair New York, we’ve got some Yu-Gi-Oh! Pops! on the list.  There are quite a few super-sized Pops! for this property, some of which are exclusives. Again, scroll through the gallery and make note of the tags so you know where to find them!

Inuyasha

Thought we were done with the anime Funko products? Oh heck no. We’ve got Inuyasha Pops! coming to the Toy Fair this year as well.

Now, this brings me back. This is one of the first anime titles I ever really followed so I’m totally down with this. Scroll through the Pops! in the gallery below and get hit in the face with that sweet sweet anime nostalgia.

Saint Seiya: Knight’s of the Zodiac

Funko is bringing Saint Seiya: Knight’s of the Zodiac to the Toy Fair, too. At first, I thought this was some more old school anime, but it seems a new series was launched last year. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Funko! The original series was before even my time (because yes, I am An Old Person), but I’ve heard great things about it.

The series is currently available to stream through Netflix, so if, like me, you were totally in the dark about this, go check it out!

Pixar’s Soul

Pixar’s new movie, Soul, is going to be showcased at the New York Toy Fair Funko booth with several new products. The film will be released on June, 19th, 2020.

The description of the upcoming film is as follows:

Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher, has long dreamed of performing jazz music onstage, and finally gets a chance after impressing other jazz musicians during an opening act at the Half Note Club. However, an untimely accident causes Gardner’s soul to be separated from his body and transported to the “You Seminar”, a center in which souls develop and gain passions before being transferred to a newborn child, and Gardner must work with souls in training, such as 22, a soul with a dim view on life after being trapped for years at the You Seminar, in order to return to Earth before it’s too late.

Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984 is bringing the second most items to the Funko booth (Boku no Hero Academia has the most). There are Pops!, pens, key chains, and more! There’s so much to browse here it’s almost overwhelming.

And yes, one of the characters is blacked out on the promotional material. Hmmm, how curious. The film will come out after the Toy Fair, so surely this can’t be an attempt to hide a spoiler, could it? If so, they could have just not brought it alone to Toy Fair New York to begin with. Hell, Disney didn’t even put Baby Yoda toys into production out of fear of leaks. Maybe Funko is just holding off the surprise until the convention itself. Who knows?

Back to the Future

These Back to the Future Pops! are friggin CUTE. We have three Docs, four Marty’s, and a Biff. I’m particularly jazzed about the Back to the Future Part III Doc, as that’s my favorite of the trilogy. I would love to get a matching Clara Clayton to go with him as she was always my favorite. But oh well, these are great… for now!

Fortnite

We’ve got Fortnite pops!  These will no doubt be quite popular once they officially hit the market. They look great. This is the only gaming set announced so far that Funko will be bringing to the New York Toy Fair, but it seems like they have plenty more announcements yet to come. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

US Women’s National  Team

What?! This is amazing!

The US Women’s National Soccer Team has their own line of Pops!, including Megan Rapinoe doing her famous victory gesture.

Our team is super good. In case you didn’t know, we won the World Cup last year. Even I, a person who doesn’t follow the sport, know who these players are and would proudly display these figures in my apartment. They’re practically national heroes at this point.

The team has qualified for the Olympics and I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring to the games.  Good luck, National Team!

Toy Fair New York

Tennis Legends

Sports seems to be a thing that’s happening at Toy Fair New York, too. We have the Funko Tennis Legends line, which includes Rafael Nadal, Amanda Anisimova, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Venus Williams, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, and Nick Kyrgios. They are all quite cute.

NBA Legends

Let’s keep leaning into the sports thing, I guess. We’ve got the NBA Legends line coming to the Toy Fair as well.

Miscellaneous Disney

We’ve got a few various Disney Pops! and other toys coming to the fair, too. Right now we have some pens and a Disney Villains Pop! set. But there will be more announcements on the way, so I expect this list to grow.  Keep an eye out for more in a subsequent article!

Miscellaneous Shows

There are various other shows that Funko is bringing that, while they may not have a big number of items themselves, will no doubt be popular for fans of the shows. We’ve got Magnum P.I. (which honestly, at first glance, looked like Hopper from Stranger Things season 3, but I digress…), Will & Grace, and Cobra Kai!

Miscellaneous Movies

We’ve got a few movie focused Pops! coming out, too. So far we have Pops! from Animal House, Fight Club, Romy and Michel’s High School Reunion, Smokey and the Bandit, The Mighty Ducks and Stripes.  These titles span quite a few decades, here. It’s a diverse bunch of films, to say the least!

Miscellaneous Other Properties

Harry Potter, Sally Face, The Flintstones, Archie, Looney Tunes, Arthur, DC… there’s a lot of miscellaneous properties that have a handful of figures coming to the fair this year. Click through the gallery to check them out! I expect some of these properties to have even more announced at a later date, but for now, their numbers are so small they are sort of getting thrown here in my ‘miscellaneous’ gallery. Apologies!

Bananya Plush

Funko is bringing several Bananya plushies to the con. What’s Bananya? Tiny cats! Living in bananas! Duh!

This anime show originally aired back in 2016 with another season released just last year. It’s one of those absurdist concepts that’s just weird enough to be appealing. Wikipedia describes it as follows:

Discovering a new species of tiny cats living inside of bananas, the anime revolves around their lives. Bananya’s lifelong dream is to bathe in chocolate with all of his banana cat friends. Until then, they are trying to live their lives as best as they can in a normal household.

The 16-inch super-sized plush is a Game Stop exclusive and, while the graphic doesn’t note this, Funko clarified on Twitter that the Night Rainbow Bananya is a Barnes and Noble exclusive.

Toy Fair New York

Snapsies

This new product is being brought to the Toy Fair! This is what Funko has to say about the new product:

Toy Fair New York 2020 Reveals: Snapsies
Funko changed the game in the collectibles market, and now we’re bringing that experience to the toy aisle to share with our Funko families and Funko kids!

Toy Fair New York

Paka Paka!

Keep your eyes out for some Paka Paka toys too! There haven’t been any tweets about these, but I suspect we’ll hear more about this in an upcoming information dump on Twitter. I’ll keep an eye out!

Funko will also be bringing some games to the Toy Fair! And they also just launched a new game focused Twitter page, so that if you really dig this line of products you can keep track of updates about it much more easily. This is a new venture, so let’s see how this plays out!

“We connect families and fans through immersive game experiences rooted in clever pop culture tie-ins and fan-favorite licenses.”

Some of the games announced on Twitter include Wonder Woman and Back to the Future related games, among others.

But wait! THERE’S MORE! Coming… tomorrow….

And wow, I am exhausted.  That’s a lot of stuff, guys!  I’ll try to do a similar summary of the exclusives tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that!

Will you be attending Toy Fair New York? Which items are you most excited about?
