Netflix Trailer For Animated Movie “KPop Demon Hunters” Has Me Hyped!

Netflix recently released the trailer for the upcoming animated movie KPop Demon Hunters. And frankly, I’m very hyped to watch it on June 20, 2025.

I don’t know what I was expecting when I decided to press play on the KPop Demon Hunters trailer on YouTube, but I’m already into what it seems ready to serve to fans (whether they are into KPop or not). Being promoted as a fantasy musical action comedy, the premise deals with three KPop superstars named Rumi, Mira, and Zoey being given the responsibility to kill demons while performing in sold-out stadiums. As if KPop idols weren’t overworked enough. Though they seem to have a handle on things, the situation takes a very dangerous turn when… well, I’ll get to that in a bit.

From Sony Pictures Animation, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are voiced by Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo, respectively. I’m so glad to see Cho being part of such an exciting project. The movie has been co-directed by Maggie Kang
and Chris Appelhans. Kang’s also responsible for the story. The screenplay is by Hannah McMechan, Danya Jimenez, Kang, and Appelhans.

The introduction of the demons walking around in the human world disguised as a rival boy band took me by surprise. It’s the creative decision that guaranteed I’ll be watching KPop Demon Hunters when it drops on Netflix. It’s such an awesome concept to have a boy band steal the souls of their fans in such a manner. I mean, certain stans would willingly “give up” their soul if a real-life band played up the “soul offering” gimmick. Stan culture can get out of hand. So, I’m interested in seeing what kind of commentary this movie might feature.

The rest of the cast includes Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and more.

I’ve already marked my calendar for June 20, 2025!
