Even though there are people who might have prayed the plans to make a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film were a poor joke from Hollywood, the first official trailer has been released. Currently, I think it isn’t as bad as it could have been.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a famous game franchise from SEGA. The first title was released back in 1991. So, in a sense, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to make a live-action adaptation. Anyway, we will get to see the final product come November 8, 2019.

Until then, here is the first official trailer!

I mean, it isn’t as bad as it could have been, right?

The upcoming film has James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, the newly appointed sheriff of Green Hills. He seems to be on the hunt for Sonic who is deemed responsible for an energy surge. Ben Schwartz voices Sonic.

The character design of Sonic is very weird. While Detective Pikachu went for a more realistic approach, I don’t know what the design team for this film was thinking. Did anyone really want the iconic blue being to have a muscular build just because he runs very fast? Why change his gloves to white fur? Also, those human teeth!

The cast includes Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik (Dr. Eggman). He is an evil scientist who wants to harness Sonic’s power for nefarious purposes. Carrey is clearly on his over-the-top and zany acting route. I’m okay with it.

The trailer shows a lot of Carrey. I guess the team behind this movie’s promotional content knows he is their best bet to entice people to enter theatres. Let’s see how this film does at the box office later this year. It has a reported production budget of $90 million.

I also did a reaction video for the trailer!

What did you think of the Sonic the Hedgehog official first trailer? Are you going to watch this movie? Let us know.
