Iconic Rangers Return in Power Rangers 25th Anniversary Trailer! New Series To Debut in 2019!

Power Rangers fans know August 28, 2018, will mark the 25th Anniversary of the famous franchise. It was on that date Mighty Morphin Power Rangers debuted on US television back in 1993. The current Super Ninja Steel Rangers will celebrate by airing a special anniversary episode at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the same date!

The special anniversary episode is titled ‘Dimensions in Danger’ and it features the Super Ninja Steel Rangers teaming up with a number of iconic Rangers from the past. Some of the returning Rangers include Tommy (Jason David Frank), Wes (Jason Faunt), and Kat (Catherine Sutherland).

The trailer, revealed by IGN, shows the Super Ninja Steel Rangers asking for help from legendary heroes to battle an army of Ranger clones. Tommy can also be seen putting on his different Ranger costumes.

Other than the upcoming special anniversary episode, fans can look forward to a new Power Ranger series. Revealed during the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel panel at Power Morphicon (August 17 to 19), the new installment in the franchise is titled Power Rangers Beast Morphers. It will air on Nickelodeon sometime in 2019.

The upcoming series will use footage from 2012’s Super Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. The series is set in the near future where scientists have become able to harness the power of the Morphing Grid to create new technology. Of course, things go wrong and a virus named Evox threatens to destroy Earth. The power of the Morphing Grid and animal DNA is then combined to create new Beast Morpher Power Rangers and the Beast Bots.

Other than the live-action episodes, Diamond and Funko are partnering to bring fans an exclusive Lord Darkkon Funko POP! It will be limited to 30,000 pieces worldwide. The exclusive was also revealed during Power Morphicon.

Lord Drakkon is back, seeking power and might as a new PREVIEWS exclusive Funko POP! figure. No Ranger is safe from this detailed vinyl figure of the evil green Ranger, an alternate-reality version of Tommy Oliver.

It is scheduled to hit shelves in January 2019 for $11.99 SRP.

“We’re excited about this Lord Drakkon Funko POP! and we think fans will be too because he’s such a captivating, yet twisted character. Right now, there isn’t much Lord Drakkon merchandise available and this will give fans a chance to get their hands on an exclusive collectible associated with the Power Rangers’ Shattered Grid storyline, one of the biggest comic book events of this summer,” said Erique Watson, Diamond PREVIEWS Brand Manager for Toys.

These are some exciting times for Power Rangers fans, especially because of the Shattered Grid event occurring in the comic book series.
