Fans of classic survivor horror games have Tormented Souls to look forward to this month. The upcoming title will be officially released on digital on PS5, XBS X/S and Steam on August 27, 2021. It will also be getting a physical release for the PS5 on the same date.
Along with the digital and physical version availability on August 27, 2021, Tormented Soul is planning a PS4, XB1, and Nintendo Switch release soon. The upcoming game will cost you $19.99. Considering the quality of content shown in the trailer, that’s some great value for the money you will spend.
The latest cinematic trailer shows the lead character Caroline Walker investigating the disappearance of missing twin girls. The trailer showcases a creepy mansion-turned-hospital setting with a variety of monsters players will need to survive.
Check it out!
The trailer is giving me Resident Evil and Silent Hill vibes (which, according to the promo material, PQube, Dual Effect and Abstract Digital Works were going for. They have succeeded). Caroline’s design also looks interesting, with her right eye all bandaged up. The outfit, on the other hand, feels out of place for such a game, in my opinion. Perhaps we will have an in-game explanation about her attire? Apparantly, she regains consciousness in the creepy mansion-turned-hospital while hooked up to medical equipment. So, maybe she only had random clothing items to choose from? Anyway, I’m here for this game!
Like the classic survival horror titles, the gameplay will include fixed perspectives, resource collection, building weapons, and solving puzzles. Interestingly, mirrors provide a gateway to another place and time. Players are encouraged to “investigate even the seemingly mundane to discover ways to manipulate the very fabric of reality and seek your escape.”
Take note; a demo of Tormented Souls is currently available on PlayStation 5 and Steam. The demo allows you to play the first 40 minutes of this game. You can Wishlist it on Steam, and pre-order it on your gaming system of choice right now.
I do think the classic survival horror gaming fandom has been waiting for a well-made title. Tormented Soul could give them what they want. Let’s see what kind of reception it gets.
