From Studio Pixanoh, the upcoming indie video game Town of Zoz can be wishlished right now on Steam/PC. The title has been described as an adventurous cooking RPG.

Town of Zoz was revealed during the Humble Showcase 2025. You will get to play as a young reluctant hero named Ito. A shaman chef (cool!), he has been asked to return to his village, which also houses his family farm and restaurant. Upon his return, Ito realizes that his homeland is in trouble. The setting is inspired by Latin American indigenous cultures.

There’s no shortage of farming games out there. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for farming RPG titles that have a unique look and certain gameplay elements. Also, some of the farming action video games end up focusing more on the farming part rather than the action part. And while I understand the appeal of objectives aimed at planting crops and collecting/gathering ingredients or items, I prefer the ones that have more action during the hero’s journey.

So, yeah, Town of Zoz really stood out for me because of the anime-esque visuals and how the gameplay features fast-paced action. Yeah, you will be asked to run around gathering ingredients to cook certain recipes. But you will also get lots of opportunities to face off against several fantastical creatures.

Similar to other games in the genre, there’s an ancient magical presence that has gripped the hero’s village and threatens its future. You are the village’s only hope.

Judging by the trailer, the action mechanics aren’t contained by a grid-like setting. You are free to move around the battlefield to dodge attacks and strike your enemy whenever you see an opening. Ito can also take certain companions along to aid in battles. Each companion has unique skills to help turn the tides of battle in your favor.

Talking about the recipe or cooking mechanic, the cookbook shows what a dish is supposed to look like and all of the ingredients required to make it. You will need to cook specific dishes to strengthen bonds with the villagers that you meet. The inhabitants include legendary heroes, quirky shopkeepers, and the Boonbola team (a local sports group). Leveling up bonds allows you to learn more about the villagers. Meals can also be consumed to give Ito stat boots to aid with your next hunt.

The trailer shows a one-eyed spirit-like being following Ito around. From what I could understand, the tiny spirit can be given a battlesuit to better assist during enemy confrontations.

The game also supports Local Co-Op, allowing you to team up with friends to explore Zoz together. You can also cook and battle alongside them. With Ito being the hero, I don’t know if the second player will control a new character or an armored up blue spirit.

Here’s the vibrant trailer!

As for Studio Pixanoh, it’s a fully remote indie studio based in Los Angeles, and currently employs 20 developers in North America, South America, and Europe. Town of Zoz is the studio’s first title and I think they have done a very good job. I wish them success with the launch.

You can Wishlist the Town of Zoz right now on Steam. Along with PC, the title is supposed to have releases for the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox.
