I’m not a fan of army-centric combat games. But add paranormal stuff into it, and you have my interest. Speaking of such a game, Mad Devils will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S sometime this summer.

From Itzy Interactive, the Mad Devils indie game has been described as a retro-inspired, co-op twin-stick shooter. Players will be able to control a team of heroes called Mad Devils. Said team is made of elite GIs sent on a mission to stop Major Strauss from completing his objective involving summoning demons and using them to defeat the Allies during World War 2. Again, not into army-combat games, but the supernatural aspect has me hooked.

The members of your squad have unique abilities such as being demolitionists, snipers, commandos, and more. Players will be able to use “infernal firearms and new-found demonic powers, cutting a bloody swath through hell’s denizens and a battalion of damned Nazi soldiers.”

Mad Devils can be played solo (with an AI partner), co-op, or locally. The game has been inspired by Helldivers and Loaded.

The official description reads:

As World War II enters its final stages, the Nazi war machine resorts to the occult to turn the tide. When the maniacal Major Strauss plans to open a gateway to Hell itself to reinforce his armies, an elite team is deployed to thwart his plans – The Mad Devils. But sometimes, regular heroism just isn’t enough. Dead, defeated, and damned, the Mad Devils regroup in the underworld itself and draw up plans to close the gateway from the other side.

Here’s the trailer!

The Key Features include:

  • Playing as one of six unique characters with their own upgradable weapons and powers.
  • Fighting side-by-side with either a friend or AI squadmate, on- or offline.
  • Enjoying a rich story campaign penned by UK author, Dr. Greg Buchanan, whose credits
  • include No Man’s Sky: Atlas Rises, Paper Brexit, and Metro Exodus.
  • Using upgradeable demonic powers and WWII-inspired weaponry to wage war against the Nazis.
  • Experiencing a unique cover system, a mix of levels with procedurally generated areas and destructible set pieces.

As of now, Mad Devils is undergoing PC playtesting on Steam with a March launch window. It’s planned to arrive on PlayStation and Xbox later this year (around the summer).
