Self-Aware Comedic RPG “tERRORbane” Debuts on Nintendo Switch and PC This April
As a fan of content that’s self-aware, I’m quite interested in seeing what the upcoming RPG tERRORbane has in store for players when it launches on the Nintendo Switch and PC come April 1, 2022.
For those being a bit hesitant, don’t be. According to developer BitNine Studio and publisher WhisperGames, tERRORbane will indeed debut on April 1, 2022. It’s not a joke! Also, I like how the title has the word ‘ERROR’ in it because it links to what you will be tasked with when playing this indie game title.
Being a Best Original Game nominee at the Gamescom 2021 Awards, tERRORbane is all about allowing players to try and save a bug and glitch-filled digital world. A running commentary, throughout each level, will be provided by the Developer of the game you will be tasked to fix. This title is supposed to pay homage to classics such as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, and Final Fantasy I-VII. You can definitely see the influences in the trailer below!
The gameplay involves being able to use certain bugs to your advantage. Player choices have an impact on the storytelling. Also, replaying the game will allow you to encounter new characters, areas, and even more collectible bugs.
The Key Features of tERRORbane include:
- Experiencing a meta-narrative adventure where players can shape the story.
- Meeting the fourth-wall-breaking character The Developer who serves as the narrator and the game’s antagonist.
- Discovering numerous bugs and glitches.
- Getting to relive iconic (bug-filled) moments in video game history! (This is what I’m the most excited about.)
- Tons of replayability to discover as many bugs as possible as well as trying to find every branching path.
You can go ahead and Wishlist tERRORbane right now on Steam. There’s also a demo you can try!
Players wanting to learn more about this title can follow the project on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
As for BitNine Studio, it is a team of Italian game developers based in Forlì, Italy. The studio was founded in late 2014 by two gaming enthusiasts: Luca Spazzoli (Project Manager and Lead Programmer) and Matteo Leoni (Art Director). After gaining some first experiences in mobile gaming, and following the addition of Andrea Leoni (Story Writer) to the team, BitNine Studio began working on tERRORbane, the studio’s first standalone project for desktop and console platforms.
Are you excited about playing tERRORbane?
