Shueisha Games has launched Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The latest turn-based action video game lets you play with a bunch of characters from the Jump+ manga.
The premise of Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions involves a young boy named Damien who has his life flipped upside-down due to his family moving to Japan. Being shy and needing to adapt to an unknown location, Damien uses the power of his imagination to create a hero named Captain Velvet Meteor. Teaming up with his favorite Jump+ heroes, Damien focuses on adjusting to his new life and finding himself along the way.

Here’s the trailer!
I do like the overall very colorful vibe of the game. It’s clearly going for a child-like aesthetic to match Damien’s imagination. I like the doodles and manga panels that help convey the storyline focusing on Damien’s mental wellbeing.
The turn-based gameplay seems to use the traditional square grid. There are also sections where Damien will need to move around solving puzzles.
As for Shueisha Games, it’s a new video game publisher that originated by crossing the boundaries between the publishing and game industries. It was founded by the owners of Jump manga publications.
The studio’s titles include Arcana of Paradise – The Tower –, Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions, SOULVARS, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni, and UKIYO. Currently, they are working on two major collaborative projects: unVEIL the world with NetEase Games, and the much-anticipated Project Survival with MAGNUS.
As for the developer of Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions, that’s Momo-pi, an indie game studio led by Rinaldo Wirz, a Swiss artist living in Japan. The studio garnered critical praise with their game, Persephone, and won the “Shueisha Shonen Jump+ Award” at the Google Play Indie Game Festival 2019.
