Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. The continuation of the 5-season-long Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous features older versions of the OG cast trying to uncover a dark mystery while being targeted by a mysterious organization.

As someone who enjoyed watching the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous animated series (2020-2022), I’m excited to see the gang getting back together after a timeskip. With Darius and his crew being older now, you know the writers were more than willing to give the new story a darker tone. After all, the trailer opens with Brooklynn’s presumed death.

Check it out for yourself!

I mentioned the word presumed when talking about Brooklynn’s fate because I highly doubt the writers will kill off an OG character in such a manner. And yes, while I have read the news about Jenna Ortega not returning to voice Brooklynn in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, I don’t think her exit is grounds to kill off Brooklynn.

I mean, the creative team can easily bring in someone else to voice the character. It’s not a big deal, in my opinion. Ortega doesn’t “own” Brooklynn the way she does Wednesday Addams in pop culture.

Anyway, the trailer has Darius feeling guilty about Brooklynn’s death. Apparantly, he made a promise to her about something and he thinks he could have somehow prevented her death.

According to Ben (who has changed the most compared to his younger version), who had been reading stuff up on “Dark Jurassic”, Brooklynn was targeted. With Brooklynn gone, the rest of the characters are also being targeted. And that leads to Ben and Darius teaming up to warn their old friends aka Sammy, Kenji, and Yaz.

Of course, the ones hunting the main characters are using raptors, linking to the Atriociraptors featured in Jurassic World: Dominion (2022).

Darius does mention that whatever’s happening now has happened before. So, I’m interested in learning more about what the cast is dealing with. Also, I wonder if queer characters Sammy and Yaz are still together. Hmmm.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory will debut on Netflix on May 24, 2024.
