Metroidvania Featuring a Chainsaw-Wielding Bunny “The Weird Dream” Gets PC Steam Release Tomorrow!
In a surprise announcement, publisher WhisperGames and developer Shanghai AmberDragon have shared that their Metroidvania title The Weird Dream will be released on PC Steam come March 7, 2024.
Along with the PC Steam release of The Weird Dream tomorrow, a Nintendo Switch port will follow sometime later this year.
The game has been inspired by the likes of Castlevania, Metroid, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, and others. Set in the ruins of Alpha City, the storyline allows you to play as a chainsaw-wielding bunny who finds itself transversing a very dangerous yet beautiful landscape. Get ready to battle against more than 40 bosses as you try to uncover the hidden secrets found across various environments.
Of course, you will be able to level up your bunny’s skills as you progress through the game. Players will have the power to unlock and experiment with various abilities to create a unique combat style via an adaptable rune system. The controls are said to be easy to learn. However, mastering them will require time.
The narrative is about unraveling the truth behind Alpha City’s untimely destruction. You will get to learn the legends about a being only known as the Astral Lord who is said to answer sincere prayers and fulfill desires.
The enemies include numerous monsters. Apparantly, your character has mutated too. They just woke up as a bunny rabbit one day. Cute. But also, uh-oh!
Being an open-world game, the title encourages exploration. There are seven distinct biomes with more than 300 intricately detailed areas. Exploration of the mysteries will let you access over 30 hand-drawn comics spanning 80 pages.
Here’s the trailer!
I have to say, I like everything about this trailer. The visuals are intriguing. And so is the soundtrack. I like how fast-paced the action seems to be as well as the unique character designs. So, good! That little bunny is not joking around!
The Weird Dream will be available in English and Simplified Chinese upon launch. Other languages, including Japanese, will be accessible in an upcoming update.
You can download the game from the Steam Page here.
