Funko Steps Up To Support Australia’s Animals with New Pop!

New Pop! Support Australia's Animals with New Pop! Funko
RSPCA National Bushfire Appeal – Bushfire Heroes Firefighter with Koala Pop! Vinyl Figure (Popcultcha Exclusive)

Funko has released a new Pop! doll to help raise funds in support of Australia’s wildlife, which has been decimated by the Australian wildfires.

All proceeds from the new Pop! will go towards the RSPCA National Bushfire Appeal, which is “working alongside government and emergency agencies, veterinarians and local authorities to provide much-needed equipment and supplies, emergency care and identifying and assessing injured animals in need of assistance,” per their press release.

The Limited Edition Pop!, which features a firefighter embracing a koala, is a collaboration between Funko and PopCultcha. It is being sold exclusively through PopCultcha and the estimated delivery date is June 2020. The figure is being sold for $19.99 Australian dollars (approximately $13.43 USD at the time of this writing). An additional shipping cost of $12.50 will be added for orders shipping to the US.

Those wishing to forgo the Pop! and donate directly to the RSPCA can do so here. More information about how the RSPCA helps animals across Australia, in general, can be found on their website. They “provide services to animals in need through their shelters and inspectorates.”

This is the latest effort among geeks to raise funds for Australia as they work to provide relief for those impacted by the fires. Last month we reported on various fandom and content creator led efforts to raise funds for Australia, which included exclusive merchandise, fan-hosted auctions, GoFundMe accounts, and various craft sales.

At this time, an estimated $500 million dollars has been raised across all efforts, both from fandom and geek culture initiatives, and otherwise.

As of writing this, an estimated one billion animals have been killed due to the fires. Thirty four humans have lost their lives and over 72,000 square miles have been burned. Almost 6,000 buildings, including 2,779 homes, have been lost.

The fires are still ongoing.
