“Cersei” goes in search of MORE WINE!
Once upon a time, The Geekiary Girls put together a fundraiser to help them afford SDCC press coverage logistics.
But because I have little to offer in the way of shareable skills (unlike, for example, Swag Master Bandit and Artsy Craftsy Undie Girl), I’ve instead agreed to put myself out there over and over again and do silly things for the love of this website and our amazing followers. In this instance, the milestone for the $900 mark was me dressing up in my Cersei Lannister Cosplay and going in search of MORE WINE! Although I only *really* had to go to a store, I made it a bit more of an adventure and also went out to dinner, and even added a little surprise at the end of the night (which you’ll see at the end of the video, of course).
It was certainly an interesting evening. I’d really wanted to ask a Total Wine & More employee if they had any Dornish reds or sweet Arbor golds, but alas, no employee would consent to be filmed – not in their “uniform”, anyway, which was kind of the point of the whole thing. Bah humbug, I say!
I did have one woman ask me to fetch her a bottle of wine, too – because it was on the top shelf and I’m tall and she was decidedly not. Of course I did it, though I made sure to note that Cersei Lannister would never actually do such a thing.
At dinner, several people asked about the costume, to which I of course replied, “I always dress like this!” …and then explained that I was doing it because we’d hit a fundraising goal for this wonderful website. I’m fairly certain that even then, the people who approached me were only pretending to understand, but in the end I could really care less – I was having fun!
Oh, and when I stopped to get gas a random woman complimented me on my dress and asked if I could make one for her. Hahaha, I hate sewing my own stuff enough, thank you, and avoid doing so whenever I can! But the compliment was sweet and I’m going to try to send her some info on a seamstress who makes things for people for a living.
All in all, I’m fairly certain that I successfully weirded out plenty of people in my lovely city of Greenville, South Carolina…even the ones who were too afraid/shy/confused to say anything to me.
Again, many thanks to all who have donated, and to my friend Bekah, who helped me record my adventures! Also thanks to the The Geekiary Girls’ stalwart leader Stephanie for editing my clips and pictures together for this video…it’s because of her that you don’t have to listen to me mention how cold it is here at least half a dozen times 🙂
