Tekken 7 teaser trailer revealed!
It seems fans will be getting the next instalment of the popular Tekken game series sooner than they thought. After five years of waiting since Tekken 6’s release on PS3 and Xbox 360 (7 years for arcade players in Japan), information that Tekken 7 exists has surfaced. Not only that, a teaser trailer has also been released!
I am a huge fan of the franchise and I’m very excited about the latest instalment. The official announcement was made by Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada. According to sources, this wasn’t the game he planned to unveil at the EVO Tournament being held in Las Vegas. It was announced that the game will be powered by the Unreal Engine 4. According to the producer, using such an engine will enable them to achieve the video quality they want and allow the game to be released on the platforms they desire. Considering that the Unreal Engine 4 is being used, a release on the PS4 and XBox One does seem likely.
Judging by the teaser trailer that has been released, the story feels similar to what we have seen throughout the game’s canon. Kazuya and Heihachi are still fighting each other and that’s how I think Jin will be connected to the story too. An interesting thing shown in the trailer was a woman saying that Heihachi has figured out he was born with the same power as her. So, the elderly fighter will be getting a secret power? Heihachi Mishima is already way too over powered in the game and giving him a secret power doesn’t seem fair to the rest of the characters present in the game. The trailer also shows the words ‘the finale battle’. It is safe to assume that will only be the case until news of Tekken 8 gets released in another five or six years. You know it will happen!
After the events that played out in “Tekken: Blood Vengeance”, I’m looking forward to Ling Xiaoyu’s role in the new story. After being introduced in Tekken 3, she quickly took on the role of the game’s female lead, and served as the character aiming to stop the male lead, Jin, from going on the dark path like his father.
Considering how the developers have treated previous characters in the series, it won’t be a surprise if new characters make their debuts and as well as familiar faces making their return. A release date for the game hasn’t been announced. However, knowing that a new game in the series canon will be released is exciting enough. Here’s hoping for a release date for the much anticipated Tekken X Streetfighter is revealed soon too. Fans of the series need a new fighting game!
