Dragon Ball Daima 1×11 Review: “Legend”
Dragon Ball Daima anime episode 11, titled ‘Legend’, added a new character to the story while Goku and the Z-Warriors headed to confront the Second Tamagami.
After Majin Kuu failed to defeat the First Tamagami and impress Dr Arinsu in the previous episode, I wondered how the creative team would allow him to stick around. Well, I didn’t have to wait long to get the answer. Dr Arinsu decided to ask Marba to create another creature for her, this time using all of Majin Buu’s extract that Dr Arinsu collected from Earth. Even though Marba warned Dr Arinsu that doing so could lead to the creation of a highly unstable monster, Shin’s sister didn’t care. She wanted a powerful enough fighter on her side to not only take down King Gomah but also to cement herself as the ruler of the Demon Realms.
Even though the current anime has featured some stunning fight sequences, the narrative has also kept a lighthearted tone. The trend continued in ‘Legend’ as we got introduced to the newly-created Majin Duu and Vegeta stepped up to fight the Second Tamagami.
Majin Duu’s not as bright as Majin Kuu. However, he did fare better against the First Tamagami than his older brother. With how things went during their battle, I have a feeling that Majin Kuu and Majin Duu will fuse with each other soon enough to create a hybrid with immense power. Also, certain fans compared the two brothers to Spongebob and Patrick and you know what? I think that’s exactly the type of dynamic we will get to see from them.
As for Goku and the Z-Warriors, they’re approached by Neva. I liked how Piccolo immediately saw through Neva’s act of coming across as an old person who wasn’t aware of what was going on. Their conversation led to the episode delivering a bunch of information about why Neva decided to create the Three Dragon Balls in the first place and then the Tamagami to protect them.
Neva also made the Z-Warriors realize that even if they succeeded in collecting the Three Dragon Balls, they wouldn’t be able to make a wish to turn back into adults because the summoning spell required someone who knew the Namekian language. So, yeah, the Z-Warriors had no choice but to agree to Neva wanting to tag along with them.
Neva’s powerful enough to create the Dragon Balls as well as the Tamagami. However, I have no idea what Neva’s planning, knowing that King Gomah and Degesu had eyes on him. I’m intrigued to learn more about Neva’s true intentions.
As for my wish of anyone other than Goku battling the Second Tamagami, well, it came true when Vegeta stated it was his turn because Goku had gone up against the Third Tamagami. The way the Second Tamagami threw shade at Vegeta by saying he should go back to his mother made me laugh.
Their fight didn’t last long and of course, it was done on purpose. There was only so much the approximately half-hour episode could cover. The battle lasted for a couple of minutes and showed that the protector of the Second Dragon Ball wasn’t a joke. Also, there was the added danger of a Kraken popping up to swallow a contender if they flew too close to the surface of the ocean or were thrown underwater. Vegeta needed to take this confrontation seriously if he wanted to win.
I don’t think he appreciated becoming Kraken food after being thrown into the ocean by the Second Tamagami. We know Vegeta will find a way to escape the Kraken to continue his fight in the next episode. What I’m looking forward to is how the creative team will handle his headspace after experiencing such a blow. I’m excited to see him activating his Super Saiyan form and going all out.
With the Second Tamagami being this powerful, Goku and Vegeta will need to grow stronger if they hope to defeat the First Tamagami. They haven’t even come face-to-face with the real threat/s yet.
