The Cast of Teen Titans Wants a Season 6 Just As Much As You Do

I didn’t get to see the premiere of Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans, which I am very sad about (but it was good for them! The room was packed), but I did get to talk to the Teen Titans cast at SDCC 2019, and that’s the next best thing.

Speaking of the next best thing, I am a huge fan of the original Teen Titans, but I sort of turned my nose up at Teen Titans Go!, and now I feel bad about that. I recently watched Teen Titans Go! to the Movies when it was on HBO, and it was actually funny and entertaining, and now I feel guilty for writing off an entire show just because it wasn’t the original. That being said, the Teen Titans cast at SDCC 2019 were just as eager to talk about a potential season 6 as we were. If we can’t have a season 6 (which everyone is still holding out hope for!), having the OG Titans show up in this film is indeed the next best thing.

The cast was a delight. They all talked about the collaborative atmosphere on the show, where they all record in the booth together – unlike most shows, which record the voice talent individually – and do a lot of improvising. Director Jeff Mednikow and writers Marly Halpern-Glaser and Jeremy Adams all talked about how well the cast know their characters, and how sometimes it isn’t even necessary to write any dialogue. The script will simply say something like “Titans argue” and the conversation will be entirely ad-libbed. The cast, particularly Scott Menville (Robin), also talked about the improvisation, and that since they know each other so well (they have a group chat and also hang out together outside of work), they can usually tell when someone is going to ad-lib and they’ll hold back on their scripted lines.
