Action Heavy Roguelite “Wizard of Legend 2” Gets Steam Early Access!
Fans of action-heavy spellcasting can see what roguelite videogame Wizard of Legend 2 has to offer. From the studio, Dead Mage, Wizard of Legend 2 is currently available on Steam Early Access.
Described to take players into a chaotic world of magic and adventure, Wizard of Legend 2 serves as a sequel that builds on the original (from 2018) while introducing new features for players to enjoy, including 2-player co-op functionality. You will be tasked with taking on perilous trials that are ever-shifting as you try to succeed in a dangerous magical world to prove yourself.
The premise deals with ambitious wizards from around the globe participating in the Trials of Legend in the Floating Lands. The trials are deemed the single greatest test of skill and might in all the world. Only those strong enough to harness the elemental forces of Arcana hope to ascend to the rank of Wizard of Legend.
Here’s the trailer!
Judging from the trailer, I do like the vibrant visuals. Also, these are not the type of wizards who prefer long-distance battles. They will get right up in your face. And they must be so ferocious because the enemies won’t be holding back.
The Arcana seems to include the usual elements. We have Water, being balanced between offense and defense. The Lightning Arcana is about fast attacks. The Fire element seems to be about dealing heavy damage. The other Arcana types are Air, Earth, and Chaos.
Upgrading your Aranca is necessary. Also, from what I can tell, the game won’t restrict players to one Arcana type. You should be able to customize your attack pattern and spellcasting the way you like, utilizing the types of elemental Arcanas you prefer to succeed in the challenges thrown at you. You can also unlock certain benefits by finding and equipping Relics and wearing certain types of Outfits.
The trails have procedurally generated elements and a persistent progression system. Apparantly, you can look forward to enjoying 10-15 hours of gameplay. Bosses are also part of the gameplay and they seem to be masters in a particular element or attack type.
In my opinion, the chaotic nature of the top-down gameplay is going to be so much fun with friends. The game currently features 2-player co-op. However, the 4-player co-op is planned to be released later down the line. I liked how the narration by the Wizard Council during the trailer was surprised to see wizards working together because the trials are supposed to be faced solo. I do wonder if similar narration will be heard during gameplay.
