Animated Series “My Adventures with Superman” Gets Official Trailer and July Premiere!
The newest animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and DC, My Adventures with Superman, will release on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at midnight on Adult Swim. It will be available the next day on Max. I’m actually interested in this!
I’m not the biggest Superman fan. I respect him as a character, but I’m not the one to watch content that only focuses on him. However, having seen the official trailer for the upcoming animated series My Adventures with Superman, I’m definitely intrigued to experience what the premiere has in store.
The cast includes Jack Quaid as Clark Kent/Superman, Alice Lee as Lois Lane, and Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen. From what I have seen from the trailer, I’m here for the overall vibe and the dynamic between the characters.
The series has been described as a coming-of-age story and features a twenty-something Clark Kent as he tries to figure out his identity. He’s accompanied by a “bright and driven” Lois Lane, and their best friend Jimmy Olsen. The three work together as investigative reporters for The Daily Planet and, of course, will realize stuff about themselves and each other as the series progresses. Lois and Clark will begin to fall in love, and viewers can expect relationship drama as Clark tries to hide his superhero identity from her.
My only gripe would be that a twenty-something Clark should have more control over his super strength. But I guess having him break things was needed for comedic relief? Hmmm.
The upcoming midnight premiere will be a two-episode deal, with new episodes being released every Thursday. Encores will follow on Fridays at 7:00 pm ET/PT on Adult Swim and at midnight on Saturdays on Toonami. Again, the new episodes will be made available on Max on Fridays.
Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) serves as the executive producer. Jake Wyatt (Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus) and Brendan Clogher (Voltron: Legendary Defender) are co-executive producers while Josie Campbell (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) serves as co-producer. The anime-esque style makes sense considering the production team.
I remember the online outrage when the first promotional image for the show was released. However, I think that the trailer makes it clear that My Adventures with Superman will strike the right balance between humor, relationships, and action.
